Between 1764-1767, a large dog-like creature was terrorizing the southern rural countryside of France. Over one hundred people were brutally killed by this creature, men, women and many children. The locals referred to it as "La Bête du Gévaudan." It has been assumed to be a large wolf, but some say it was something more sinister. Could this beast have been a werewolf, Dogman, or even a large African hyena?
