congratulations to the newly married jon/mona from ballistichelmet! after djing a wedding–a radio show seems easy–i think it might be the sobriety helping. this week we also sent out a traveling song to a departing friend.

Sorry about being a day late–I was out of it yesterday. We’re still in KCSB’s temporary studio and this week’s recording suffers from the old equipment we’re using. Sorry about any fuzzing or cracking–by fall we should be in the band new digital buzzing and ringing studio.

To celebrate the morning’s California Discovery landing we rocked “Spacewalk” in our first (non-podcasted) hour. We’re podcasting the last two of our three hours here, but the first hour is available live on kcsb.org’s stream. Last night’s show was full of summer type jams. I’m currently beat red from at fight with the sun (I lost). I think my parents are going to dig on the Ry Cooder track. I was out in the Pacific Northwest last week while Noah worked solo and tried out the new interm studio. Unfortunately the recording equipment was acting up, so after a 3 week hiatus we’re back! I’m still getting used to the new equipment here–but I was able to play a bunch of new stuff I picked up in Seattle (Ascona CDr, Edan, L Pierre, etc.). This is a pretty mellow show. Oh also–we’re trying out sending out the show as 1 file rather than in 2 parts. Less CD-r friendly, yet more podcast friendly. If you have a preference between splitting the show or not–drop us a comment and let us know.

KCSB is currently renovating its main studio so we weren’t able to produce a show this week. On the plus side–we will soon have a brand new 24 channel digital mixer in the studio along with new monitors, turntable preamps and other bells and whistles. Thanks to all KCSB supporters for making this possible! We’ll be back next week in the temporary studio and the new studio should be completed by the end of the summer. Also–we will be airing a special show sometime next month in Germany on Zündfunk. Ascona made us a great theme song. Check it out!

Podcasting has sure blown up in the last week! Thanks to ballistic helmet for hosting the podcasts; offering us some bandwidth support after the unexpected flood. Welcome to all the new listeners. We’re starting to redesign the page–check out the logo Noah designed. As for the music, we finally got a copy of the Four Tet Madvillainy remixes. Also really feeling the new Kid Loco soundtrack.
