Welcome to our season 1 finale! In this episode, Gabe and Katie discuss the importance of engaging in loving disagreement–as inspired by Kathy Khang & Matt Mikalatos’ book, Loving Disagreement–and being friends with people you disagree with. It’s something most of us agree that we want in theory…but it’s not so easy in practice.

In this episode, Gabe and Katie discuss gaming culture: from casual to competitive, and the toxic behavior that can arise in the gaming community to bonding with friends and family, we cover a little bit of everything today.

The conversation touches on the tension between having a safe space to escape to and becoming addicted to gaming. For those outside of gaming, there is an opportunity to engage and connect with gamers by showing interest and understanding. It is important to have open and honest conversations about gaming and its impact on individuals and relationships.

Well, friends, we hope you like this one! This conversation was originally going to probably go one direction, and we wound up heading in a totally new one instead.

Divorce is something that isn’t well understood, taught about, or talked about in the church - and more often than not, there aren’t a ton of resources or stories within the Church for children going through divorces that involve adultery, abuse, narcissism, or ongoing lying. There’s plenty that Katie left unsaid for the sake of honoring all of her parents, but we think this was still quite an edifying and healing conversation.

Hopefully Katie sharing and unpacking her experience as a child of walking through two very different divorces can help someone out there process a little more about your own experience!

God does not call bad things good, but he doesn’t leave us in the midst of any of it. And he really is good. Listen into this open, raw conversation between Gabe and Katie about this important topic.

Today we dive into the neurospicy world of ADHD! ADHD is something that’s still being researched today, and in recent years is only now beginning to have more expansive research done. Gabe shares his personal journey with ADHD, from childhood to adulthood, and his experience with diagnosis and medication. We also go more into exploring what ADHD has meant for Gabe in how he engages in community and relationships.

This was a fun episode for us! In this episode, Katie and Gabe discuss the intersection of the fear of success, fear of failure, and imposter syndrome, and how it comes into play in our daily lives. We get into some of our personal experiences with perspectives on past failures and success, and explore the impact of self-talk when we make mistakes and how that in turn can shape our self-perception. 

Overall, we get into a casual, but pretty in-depth conversation that highlights the complex nature of where we believe success and failure comes from. In this episode, we have our first guest! Gabe & Katie got to sit down with John Onwuchekwa to talk about his background in vocational ministry, serial entrepreneurship, and what ministry can look like for the rest of us. In our conversation, we discussed more about the nuance in understanding the distinction between “vocation” and “calling” and how that can play out in our lives.
