For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come. Hebrews 13:14, ESV: For here we have no lasting city, but we seek the city that is to come. Hebrews 13:14, KJV: For here have we no continuing city, but we seek one to come.

All these things spake Jesus unto the multitude in parables; and without a parable spake he not unto them: Matthew 13:34, NASB: All these things Jesus spoke to the crowds in parables, and He did not speak anything to them without a parable.

Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God.

He must increase, but I must decrease.” It's John the Baptist talking about Jesus, saying his purpose in this world is to decrease. That's what he must do, and Jesus must increase. Meaning, John the Baptists purpose in this world was to exalt Christ, not himself.

But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord aseeth not as bman seeth; for man looketh on the outward cappearance, but the dLord looketh on the eheart.

And one of them struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his right ear.

But Jesus answered, “No more of this!” And he touched the man’s ear and healed him.

And the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10 and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”

My people, hear my teaching;

listen to the words of my mouth.

I will open my mouth with a parable.

I will utter hidden things, things from of old—things we have heard and known,

things our ancestors have told us.

We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.

For which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to finish it— lest, after he has laid the foundation, and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock him, saying, 'This man began to build and was not able to finish'?
