What does it actually mean to take better care of yourself, without turning your body, health, or entire life into another project to fix?
In Part One of my September Life Upgrade series, I'm looking at my physical health, energy, fitness, food, sleep, routines, and the small ways I've stopped taking care of myself the way I know I need.
After a slower summer with less routine, more meals out, less consistent exercise, and way too much caffeine (yes, there was 8pm coffee), I realized I didn't need a dramatic transformation or a completely new wellness routine. I needed to get back into alignment with the woman I already know I want to be.
We're talking about getting back into a healthy routine, creating sustainable wellness habits, finding more energy, building discipline without punishment, exercising for strength instead of a smaller body, and learning how to care for yourself while still living a very full, very real life.
I also share the realization that changed this entire experiment for me: What if I took care of myself with even a fraction of the attention I give to me kids? From plating my own lunch to getting enough sleep, I'm learning that self-care doesn't have to mean an elaborate morning routine or expensive wellness practices. Sometimes it simply means stopping giving yourself the scraps.
In this episode, we get into sustainable health and wellness, morning routines, movement and strength, motherhood and exhaustion, caffeine and energy, discipline vs. restriction, body image, self-care, intentional living, and what it means to create a life that feels more aligned, not more perfect.
If you've been feeling out of routine, exhausted, disconnected from yourself, or ready for a reset without reinventing your entire life, this episode is for you.
This week's Life Upgrade question:
Where have I stopped taking care of myself the way I know I need?
And if that feels overwhelming, start smaller:
What do I need right now?
Because maybe you don't need a different life. Maybe you already have a really good one, and you're ready to see how good it can get.
