THE BERLIN WALL - MARKED THE BEGINNING OF THE SPY WAR ⚠️‼️

✅Wall Construction in Berlin
A disturbing truth greeted Berlinites in the wee hours of August 13, 1961. A barrier that would come to represent the split of the Cold War was quickly being put together over night by East German soldiers and construction workers. The Berlin Wall was built to stop the flow of East Germans coming to the West. Under Soviet Union influence and pressure, the East German leadership was afraid of losing its population, especially the intellectuals and skilled labourers who were fleeing in large numbers. The stability and economic ability of East Germany were under jeopardy from this talent drain.
✅From a basic barbed wire fence, the Wall developed swiftly into a powerful concrete barrier spanning more than 155 kilometres, reinforced with guard towers and manned by armed soldiers. Friends were split up, families shattered, and Berlin's once-vibrant cross-city life was suddenly cut off. The Wall stood in for the ideological gap between the capitalist West and the communist East for many people, more than just a physical barrier.
Berliner Mauerfall
✅Head back to November 9, 1989, in the evening. Unexpectedly, a regular news conference turned into something else. Official of the East German government Günter Schabowski made the erroneous announcement that travel restrictions would be immediately removed. News of it moved like wildfire. East Berliners in their thousands crowded the checkpoints, begging to be allowed to travel to the West. At last, under pressure and without clear instructions, the border guards gave in and unlocked the gates.
✅An exhilaration surged through the throng as the first East Berliners crossed into the West. As they climbed the Wall, revellers danced, chiselled away at the concrete barrier with any tools they could find. Under the weight of newly discovered freedom and solidarity, the Berlin Wall—once an unbeatable emblem of division—fell.
Assassination in a City Split
✅The Wall made new, creative spying techniques necessary. Beneath it were tunnels that let spies move persons and information between the two camps. More often were aerial reconnaissance missions conducted, and advanced listening equipment was created to listen in from both sides. The Wall increased the stakes in espionage and stretched the bounds of its methods and technology.
