Bernie rips the selectors of the College Football Playoff as he scoffs at the notion that there's no true number one team with the dominance Georgia is showing. He doesn't understand why Georgia was ranked third last week as he questions if the members of the selection committee actually watch the games.

Bernie visits with St. Louis Post-Dispatch Hall of Fame Cardinals writer Rick Hummel. Rick talks about how the World Series proved that the Phillies' all-or-nothing approach does not work to actually win a World Series. Rick analyzes some of the Cardinals' new coaching hires including Dusty Blake as pitching coach and Matt Holliday as bench coach. Rick points to Trea Turner as topping his free agent wish list and talks about why he would prefer trading for a starting pitcher versus signing a free agent.

Bernie visits with Football Outsiders editor-in-chief Aaron Schatz to discuss the NFL Week 9 action. Aaron talks about how tight the AFC East has been after the New York Jets upset Buffalo and Miami continues to thrive while the Patriots hang in the race. Aaron also weighs in on how not being able to find a franchise quarterback doomed Frank Reich after repeated failures with rentals.

Bernie visits with Mizzou football radio analyst Howard Richards following the Tigers' loss to Kentucky in Columbia on Saturday. Howard talks about how frustrating it is to see the offense come close, but not able to generate enough big plays to prevail in close games. Howard says he agrees with Eli Drinkwitz that it was almost impossible to expect the defensive players to know that Kentucky's punter was off limits on the botched snap late in the fourth quarter. Howard also shares that Bernie isn't alone in thinking Mizzou can beat Tennessee on Saturday as he shares a Tigers legend agrees with that assessment.

Bernie offers up his thoughts on Dusty Baker and the Houston Astros winning the World Series. Bernie talks about how the Astros were able to hold their composure and avoid being another tale of a heavy favorite being upset by a Cinderella team. Bernie points out how the Astros thrived off getting clutch hits and home runs from Yordan Alvarez.

Bernie recaps the weekend in college football. He reflects on Missouri's loss to Kentucky and Illlinois falling to Michigan State. He also looks at the wild weekend in the rest of the SEC which featured Alabama losing and Georgia beating Tennessee. Bernie points out how Tennessee and Georgia appear to have a stranglehold on the East ,if not the SEC, for years to come.

Bernie looks to find a reason behind the Blues' early season woes as he points out there could be some tension in the locker room over Jordan Kyrou's massive contract. He also makes his NFL and college football picks for the weekend including offering up advice on Mizzou.

Bernie looks into areas where the Cardinals can improve this offseason. He talks about how he would be very happy if the Cardinals hired Matt Holliday as Oliver Marmol's bench coach. He also talks about how an upgrade at catcher is imperative and why Sean Murphy would be the perfect fit.
