Bernie reacts to Alabama making history as the first top 3 team in college football history to score 49 points and lose. Bernie also reacts to some of the other action across the SEC and college football including Kentucky and LSU's wins on Saturday.

Bernie visits with NFL.com contributor and Around the NFL editor Gregg Rosenthal. Gregg points out how the AFC East has proven to be a more competitive division than the AFC West. Gregg points to the Eagles as a favorite in the NFC given how they're on a path for the to seed in the conference. Gregg also dives into some of the top quarterback performances to date including Geno Smith's continued emergence in Seattle.

Bernie talks about Harrison Bader's emergence in the postseason with the New York Yankees, and says it's not a surprise to see he's playing with a chip on his shoulder. He points out Bader's struggles at Busch Stadium as a reason to not be critical of the trade from a Cardinals perspective despite his postseason heroics. He also differentiates the trade of Bader from some of John Mozeliak's other deals where he gave up on prospects too soon.

Bernie reacts to Buffalo's win over Kansas City on Sunday and talks about how winning in KC gives Buffalo confidence if the Bills have to face the Chiefs again in the postseason. He thinks the Philadelphia Eagles are a legitimate contender with a 6-0 start after beating Dallas Sunday night. He also points out how it takes more than an elite quarterback to win in today's NFL as Tom Brady and Aaron Rodgers have proven they can't singlehandedly compensate for their teams' struggles in other areas.

Bernie visits with CBSSports.com MLB writer and analyst R.J. Anderson R.J. says he has been a fan of the new postseason format as he's enjoyed the drama that has come with it. R.J. points out how the World Series could likely feature major market teams proving that the cream still finds a way to rise to the top.

Bernie talks about the San Diego Padres upsetting the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NLDS. Bernie praises Padres manager Bob Melvin for how he managed his pitching staff while questioning Dodgers manager Dave Roberts for his management. Bernie also points out how Roberts was hamstrung by his bullpen, and most of his in game management is collaborative versus him having a final say.

Bernie opens the show talking about what he like from the Blues' 5-2 opening night win over Columbus. He does express a little concern about Jordan Kyrou having a couple of defensive breakdowns. Bernie also takes a look back at the week in college football including Illinois' win at home over Minnesota and Tennessee upsetting Alabama.

Bernie closes out the week by offering up his picks for some of the top week 7 college football games.

Bernie talks about the importance of power in the postseason as he points out teams are 8-4 when outhomering their opponents. He takes a look at what moves the Cardinals need to make to improve their pitching staff for next season including should Adam Wainwright return and where will John Mozeliak spend money. Bernie also throws cold water on those clamoring for the Cardinals to sign a washed-up Tucker Barnhart over Willson Contreras who is still one of the top catchers in the game.

Bernie visits with St. Louis Post-Dispatch Hall of Fame Cardinals writer Rick Hummel about the passing of Hall of Fame closer Bruce Sutter. Rick talks about his experiences both covering Bruce and interacting with him after his career. He also discusses the impact Sutter made on the game and how he was the first modern star closer in Cardinals history.
