It marks Africa’s independence from colonialists (between 1945 and 1965, a significant number of African countries gained independence from European colonial powers being led by Ghana). It also celebrates the creation of the first union of African countries known as the Organisation of the African Unity (OAU) on May 25, 1963, which consisted of 32 countries and today has evolved into the African Union. South Africa only joined in 1994. The AU is headquartered in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and you can visit. Ghana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Zambia, Mali, and Zambia recognise Africa Day (May 25th) as a public holiday.

FIBROIDS – a condition that is usual less talked about across the globe that was
trending on Social Media, thanks to the White Dress project event that was hosted last
week Tuesday night in Johannesburg.
Fibroids Treatment clinic in partnership with The White Dress Project, a non-profit
organisation that sets to raise awareness about Fibroids and urge women to seek help
hosted an educational experience to drive awareness on the impact that fibroids has on millions of South African women.
This flagship initiative which brought together experts and women in one room aimed
to allow women to reclaim their voice in speaking about this prevalent condition.
The conversation that was had in the event, under the hashtag #SupportForFibroids,
inspired more women on social media to talk about their experiences with the
condition. Some spoke about the loved ones they’ve lost because of the misinformation about it, owing to the fact that not a lot all women talk when they are suffering from fibroids.
