Episode: Glassing Basics
Release Date: November 1, 2021
Summary: Finding animals is very possibly the most important part of hunting. I can't count the number of times I talk to new hunters that tell me the hardest part of hunting is just finding an animal to go after. In this episode we talk about one of my favorite ways to find animals to hunt, Glassing.
Remember it's always easier to let your eyes do the walking.
There comes a time in many hunts when the hunt becomes either difficult or outright miserable. Fortunately, this is almost entirely born of your own thinking and analyzing your situation. In other words you have gotten too much in your own head. In this episode I share some experiences from my latest hunt that fell into this category and then I give you the actions I took to turn things around and ensure a great experience.

MT Public Comment:
We made it back from Colorado. In this episode my Dad joins me again to go over the 6 day hunt in Colorado. We had a few close encounters but ultimately did not get an elk on the ground, but we did learn a lot. We discus what worked to get us into elk and things we would have done differently to give us better chance of success in the woods.
In this episode we discus Utah's proposed changes to the legal use of trail cameras. Then we get into Fred Bear's 10 commandments of Bowhunting:
1. Don't step on anything you can step over
2. Don't look for deer, look for movement and remember that's what they are looking for too
3. Always approach from downwind, in the cool of the day move uphill, in the heat of the day move downhill
4. The best camouflage pattern is called sit down and be quiet.
5. Take only the gear to the field that allows you to hunter longer, harder and smarter
6. A rainstorm isn't a reason to quit the hunt, it's a reason to stay
7. Camouflage your appearance, your sound and your scent
8. Be sure of your shot. Nothing is more expensive than regret
9. Hunt where the deer actually are, not where you'd imagine them to be
10. Next year's hunt begins the minute this season's hunt ends.
