Torah Lore: Diving into Torah study one aliyah at a time

We are coming to the close of our Joseph saga. And Joseph’s roller coaster spirituality ride is coming to an end. Clothing has played a prominent role in the book of Genesis, from the clothing God makes for Adam and Eve, to the disguise that Jacob wears to trick is father, to the Coat of Many Colors Joseph wears. These are only a few of the many instances that Genesis speaks of clothing- that covers - that veils - that mask that hides our biblical archetypes.

As I reflect on this thread I also think about how these layers effect the emotions we carry within us that act also also as veils. - Feeling one thing yet expressing another.

Most of the time I am grateful is because of a joy. I cannot be grateful for my pain and suffering.

But I can be grateful for the opportunity it gives me.

Practicing gratitude in times of joy, will condition me to practice gratitude in difficult times.
