In dramatic re-enactment, an event can be so experienced before it happens just as much as after (paraphrase, David Stacey, 1990, Prophetic Drama in the Old Testament). Those that have traditions of sacramental or liturgical worship are familiar with the idea of performative action being effective because God empowers it. The same is true of the performances of the Messiah in the Hebrew Bible, it is not merely comparison or analogy, but the same power and same divine will we see in the saving works of Hebrew Bible Messiahs, is made known to us fully in the Crucified Christ.
