“I don’t like dropping out of races, I feel like when you drop out once, then mentally, it’s bad for you. I always make sure I finish, even if I’m crawling through the line” – Mo Hashi, track and middle-distance runner
How do you know when you’ve got your pace right? We spoke to track and middle-distance runner Mo Hashi about how to get your timings just right during a tempo run with him at Bushy Park.
He may not think it, but Mo Hashi is fast, the track and middle-distance runner, who uses his spare time to compete in competitions up and down the country, has a current 5K PB at 14 minutes 35. But what motivates him to get out on the track and how hard does he push himself? Here, we talk to him about his training style, being a body double for Mo Farah and training to the point of vomiting.
You can hear Mo’s full conversation on the Big Run podcast sponsored by exhale.
Join me for post run chats with with track and middle-distance runners like Mo, along with GB runner Holly Rush, and ultra runner Mark Kerry.

Today's guest is Mark Kerry, he is a trail runner, mountain runner, ultra runner extraordinaire who after discovering running relatively late has gone all in seeing what he is capable of. It’s gone pretty well. He has 40 plus FKTs to his name and will be competing competitively at the dragons back in 2021 and is coached by record-breaking ultra-marathoner Damian Hall.
I joined him at Box Hill to take on the Box hill round an FKT he created that features 1000m of vertical gain over just over 13 miles

Holly Rush is an ex-international road marathon runner turned ultra trail runner. She didn’t start running competitively until her late 20’s and started out as a fun runner. So in 2010 when she was selected to represented Great Britain at the European Athletics Championships in Barcelona (18th and team Bronze) she couldn’t believe how far she had come. She went on to come 8th at the Commonwealth Games in 2010 and has represented GB at the World Mountain Championships twice winning team silver and bronze.
Holly has over 10 years of personal training under her belt, is a qualified sports therapist, level 2 run coach and has a masters degree in sports coaching. She is also the ASICS UK FrontRunner community manager.
She is more likely to be found in the mountains these days. She ran her first 100 miler in 2017 and has gone on to do many mountain ultras including the UTMB, ran the Annapurna Circuit solo and climbed Mont Blanc.
We went for a 4 mile shakeout along the Southbank before her pacing duties at the Asics 10k.
Stay tuned for more special Post Run specials in the coming weeks.

Sanchez Bailey is a sports psychologist who has worked with athletes, boxers and footballers for many top-flight premiership teams.
He joined me on London's busy South Bank to give me an insight into his process, how he deals with injury, nerves and performance and what kind of actionable advice everyday runners can take from his insight and knowledge.
It was fascinating to take a peek into this subject and get a greater understanding of how the mind can be a key tool for performance.
