Dekalb Asgrow agronomist Andrew Penney says that they are expecting lighter kernels coming from corn crops after the adverse weather all summer long. Incoming Corn Promotion Board President Greg Alber joins us to talk about the effects of the drought on farms in his area and yield estimates after all of the poor weather. Today's expert market analyst Don Roose of US Commodities says that the September 11 WASDE Report will be one of the biggest September reports he can remember because of the "flash drought throughout the month of August. And Stacy Raasch from Landus Cooperative joins the show to share the results of their crop tour.

State entomologist and our resident hemp expert, Robin Pruisner, updates us on the growing season for hemp and says that the harvest has actually begun in the past few weeks and will reach a peak in October. State Climatologist, Dennis Todey, from the USDA Midwest Climate Hub says that even with the rain the past 24 hours, the one storm doesn’t bust the drought. Our market expert Jamey Kohake says he is looking for some support to markets with the September 11 WASDE Report as crop conditions should worsen.

Iowa State Extension Agronomist in Northwest Iowa, Joel DeJong, says that this week’s cold weather will not have much of an effect on the corn crop, just slow down harvest because it is far into maturity.
