Iowa Soybean Association CEO Kirk Leeds tells us about the recent project that the ISA has been involved with in dredging the lower Mississippi River to help the shipping of soybeans and corn. Doug Pooch from Wyffels joins us to talk about some of the damage he has seen today from Monday’s derecho as well as some of what he has seen from traps for corn root worms. Jamey Kohake wraps up the show talking about how today’s heavy winds and rain may affect the markets in the coming days.

Bob, Nathan, and Lydia are broadcasting LIVE from the Iowa State Fair ‘Special Edition’ today with 4-H and FFA members exhibiting livestock. Al Kluis explains the impact of the drought on the stabilizing market and Bob and Andy explain the new FFA Tractor Restoration photo upload contest.

Today is the final day our special edition Big Show Tractorcade. Andy is joined at lunch in Cascade,IA by Tom Weighner from WW Homestead Dairy and maybe the oldest Tractorcader EVER: 96-year-old WWII Veteran Ed Smith! Also on today’s show, we have Matt Brown from Ag West analyzing commodity market activity as corn bounces up off of lows from yesterday and says that we may see a yield much larger than what the USDA is expecting. And Dekalb/Asgrow Agronomist Nicole Steckline says that the busy fungicide application season is wrapping up and the corn and soybean crop is looking good in Northeast Iowa but there are many areas that could still use a splash of water.

We approach the halfway point of the 2020 Big Show Tractorcade and Bob and Andy are joined by some all star Trractorcaders including Tom Manternach from Cargill in Eddyville, Ryan Bales fro mTitan Tire, and Mike Franzen from our lunch stop at Franzen Family Tractors & Parts. Aaron Seugling from the ISU Extension in Southwest Iowa tells us that drought in far southwest Iowa isn't nearly as bad as it is around Hwy 92 or even worse north of I-80. In contrast, Jim Grief from the Iowa Corn Growers Association says that the crop conditions in Eastern Iowa are strong and they have had adaquate amounts of rainfall. Grief also says that he hasn't heard much yet about the next COVID stimulus package. And Brian Hoops says that corn and bean futures have been falling today as a result of high supply numbers expected with the next WASDE report.
