It's a Wergin Good Farm Neighbor Award day with the Coalition to Support Iowa's Farmers! Bob Quinn is celebrating our 175th recipient, cattle producer Doug Erlbacher who is also our first ever recipient from Crawford County! He chats with Doug throughout the hour about his operation and some of the conservation efforts in practice on his land. Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig joins the festivities as well and discusses the Erlbacher operation, yesterday's emergency haying and grazing announcement, and drought across the state. Brian Waddingham from CSIF tells us about his excitement to be awarding a Crawford County producer for the first time, talks about how you can nominate a farmer, and how producers in need of their free and confidential services can get in touch with them. CSIF's Cody Havens talks about last week's heat wave and the toll it takes on livestock and gives some insight on his recent farm tours. Alex Frasier from Frasier nursery talks about the Burr Oak tree that they gift each GFN Award recipient and how major heat affects trees. John Heinberg from Total Farm Marketing is our market analyst today, informing us how demand has been affecting grains in the past couple of days and why corn and wheat have been following each other.
