Wyffels Hybrids District Sales Manager Brad Ganeff in Humboldt, Calhoun, and Webster Counties updates us on planting and field conditions in his area and shares with us some of the concerns he has recently heard from customers about those conditions and gives his advice to handle adversity. Iowa Pork Producers Association President Trish Cook tells us to start the hour about the success of their Pork In The Pantry program and talks about the outlook for the pork industry heading into grilling season. Iowa State University Extension Beef Specialist Erika Lundy-Woolfolk discusses pasture management with us and when the right time to start cattle grazing. We close the day with Brian Hoops from Midwest Market Solutions talking about the reasons for the downward moving grain markets today including the findings of yesterday's crop progress report.

State Climatologist Justin Glissan joins us on The Big Show with a look at what he expects in terms of rainfall during the growing season in the Midwest and what El Nino would mean for the drought we have seen the past few years. Brian Hoops with Midwest Market Solutions is with us to analyze today's markets as corn, beans, and wheat are sharply lower. We also have Emory Miller's Three Big Things and a look at weather in the Midwest and the row crop competition areas of South America.

With the Iowa State Legislative session concluded, Iowa Farm Bureau Federation President Brent Johnson gives his thoughts on this session's activity. Iowa's Secretary of Agriculture Mike Naig talks with us about planting progress and its momentary pause for this weekend's weather then gives his thoughts on the 2023 State Legislative session from the perspective of agriculture. Mike Naig also says it's a good sign that through most of the spring migration season, there has yet to be an issue with Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza (HPAI). Jamey Kohake wraps up the show for the day with a look at markets and a preview of the WASDE report coming up this Friday.

SW Iowa Field Agronomist Aaron Saeugling from Iowa State Extension joins us with his estimates for planting progress in that area and sums up the weather conditions from this past weekend. Today's market analyst, Jamey Kohake from Paragon Investments, takes a look at today's lower grain markets and says he expects a lot of progress to be shown in this afternoon's planting progress report from USDA. Tim Meyer from the Steffes Group takes us inside their schedule for land and equipment auctions in the next couple of weeks and talks about their near-150,000 online bidders.

IAWA Executive Director Sean McMahon kicks off hour two with us talking about the different resources available for farmers including federal funding available for cost share to lower risk of new practices and support available for low-yield areas. He also tells us about upcoming field days in Spencer, Cedar Rapids, and Slater and how to get involved. IDALS Soil Conservation & Water Quality Director Susan Kozak wraps up our clean water coverage with a look at the Nutrient Reduction Strategy at its 10th anniversary and tells us how farmers like Tim help move them toward their future NRS goals. Jamey Kohake concludes the hour with an update on today's markets as the war in Ukraine continues to push wheat markets higher to close the week.

In the first half hour, we talk with Tim about the wetland on his property and the practices he is implementing to minimize nitrogen runoff in the water. Rod Williamson from IAWA talks about the support they get from the Iowa Corn Growers Association and their commitment to water quality. We close the hour talking about the Iowa Nitrogen Initiative, its future, and how to participate.

Landus Cooperative President/CEO Matt Carstens and DEFNESEWERX Chief Technology and Innovation Officer Brad Chedister kick off the hour with us talking about this morning's announcement of their partnership to launch LANDWERX and how it will help better serve farmers. Dale Lesline from the Dyersville Hay Auction has an update for us today on their recent sales and the strength of their markets. Al Kluis from Kluis Commodities wraps up the markets with us today with corn and soybeans turning around with nearby for each both slightly higher and the new crops just slightly lower.

As planting goes full throttle this week across Iowa, we talk with Iowa State University Extension Field Agronomist Leah TenNapel in the Northwest corner of the state about their progress and the progress of the early-planted cop as it nears emergence. She also discusses the potential diseases including seedling rot that could impact it. We talk markets with Al Kluis today with corn and soybeans weaker and he says the recent news from the war in Ukraine is pushing wheat upward. We also take a look at weather in South America's growing regions and here in the Midwest. And, our new member of The Big Show, David Geiger, tells us what planting activity he has seen driving though Eastern Iowa in the past couple of days.
