· Today we are joined by Angela who is one of our dental hygienists at Jumeirah Biodental Clinic.

·  Throughout her career, Angela worked in the public sector in Portugal, where she took part in many programs of prevention and oral health education for children. Also worked in several clinics, providing services in oral care, not only in Portugal but also in Saudi Arabia and Dubai. During her career, she was also an assistant professor at the Dental Hygiene Program at Portalegre Health School.

· She has a special interest in helping others and she volunteered in healthcare programs in the rural and underprivileged areas in Portugal and Bali.

· Angela specializes in all the aspects related to oral health including prevention, maintenance of gingival health and cosmetic treatments such as teeth whitening. During her career as a dental hygienist, she has been focused on patient education and enthusiastic about achieving the most satisfactory results.

· So what is dental hygiene about?

· How do you become a dental hygienist? What is a hygienist at a dentist?

· How long does a hygienist take? What is a dental hygienist doing exactly?

· Passionate about educating the community - involved in many volunteering work helping others gain better oral health. She has done this across many countries like Portugal, here and Bali - More than 10 years.

Today we are joined by Doctor Carla Schweer, our biological and cosmetic dentist practicing at Dr.Roze Biodental Clinic at Jumeirah. Doctor Carla is also part of our scientific committee and a real leader when it comes to biological and functional dentistry. Carla graduated from the University of Montpellier in France. She further pursued her career and expanded her knowledge in the field of oral surgery and CAD/CAM technology. Carla has worked in many countries around the world such as France, Germany, New Caledonia, Vietnam and Laos allowing her to gain a wealth of international experience. 

Besides obviously being a very unaesthetic filling material, AMALGAM fillings or “silver fillings” are far from being the healthiest choice. Amalgam does contain 50% mercury which is the most toxic, non-radioactive element known to men. In our biological dental clinic, we need to remove this material as “highly-toxic waste”.

On today's BioHealth Podcast we are joined by Mariam is our friendly hygienist born and raised in Manchester, England.

Shortly after obtaining her degree in Biological Sciences at The University of Liverpool U.K., Mariam went on to study Dental Hygiene and Therapy at The University of Leeds U.K. and was taught by leading experts in the field of dentistry. Since then, she has gone on to further her skills in dentistry by attending various training courses and has a special interest in advanced gum disease. Mariam is passionate about preventing gum disease and managing existing gum problems and will give you comprehensive advice on how to look after your teeth and gums.

Prior to moving to Dubai, Mariam had worked as a dental hygienist in England for almost 10 years treating children and adults with various oral health problems. She is particularly keen on meeting and treating patients who have dental anxieties and phobias and is happy to only use the tools that feel most comfortable for you.

“Over the years I have come across a lot of patients who have told me they didn’t visit the dentist for many years due to various fears or bad experiences and that would make me sad. I want my patients to tell me what their fears are so we can work around this to help them achieve a healthy mouth and confident smile.”

As a hygienist there is so much Mariam can do to help you achieve a clean white smile such as scaling and polishing away soft and hardened deposits, stain removal and in-chair Zoom teeth whitening.

Mariam considers being a foodie as her second job as she loves to eat out. As she is fairly new to Dubai when you see her, please be sure to tell her about your favourite food spots. When at home, she likes to learn and practice different cake decorating techniques.

Today, we are privileged to have with us a very special guest: Dr. Agnes Roze. Doctor Roze is a biological dentist, specialist paediatric dentist. She takes care of the little quenottes of our children from the pregnancy of the mothers with targeted supplements, until the adolescence of our little cherubs. Doctor Agnes Roze explains to us the importance for low-income families to be able to access care for their children within the framework of faircare, so that they can benefit from dental hygiene care and some treatments.
