  • Contracts, Chaotic WAG behaviour, and NFL hot takes: The Bits Are Back!

We're back to our regular scheduled programming on The Bits and we've got a jam packed episode for you this week. We discuss Leon Draisaitl’s new contract, his partner Celeste's influence and what this means for the team going forward, in addition to Edmonton’s ongoing struggle with “pride of place.” Then, we switch gears to Lauren Kyle’s chaotic Instagram post as she hires a new assistant. With the NFL back in action, we talk exciting storylines for the season (yes, including Travis and Taylor). Plus, they’ll share their early Super Bowl predictions and indulge in some NFL "haterade" by revealing their most hated team.

  • The McDavid wedding was money themed

Connor McDavid and Lauren Kyle celebrated the wedding of the summer recently and we've all been patiently waiting for the photos to drop. Yes, the photos of the (other) royal wedding were officially published in Vogue Australia, and they did not disappoint. The Bits are covering everything we've seen posted so far, including the five dresses and the "old money" theme. What is an old money theme? Is that even a theme? Paulina explains the aesthetic that's been trending on TikTok over the past year. Plus, we talk about the recent bombshell delivered by the St, Louis Blues and what that means for Holloway, Broberg and the Oilers. Then, stay tuned till the end to hear what Quinn and Paulina learned from the Olympics this summer.

  • The drama that is the 2024 Summer Olympics

The first week of the 2024 Summer Olympics has provided a lot of inspriation, tears of joy, lessons in grammar about the opening ceremony (you have to listen to understand) and the rise of Canadian stars. But it also comes with a lot of drama, including angry Christians, and the cheating scandal that has marred the Canadian Women's national soccer team. The Bits dive in (yes, a lot of swimming) on all of it - including pettiness towards the world's all-time gymnast that we just won't be tolerating. #Girlhood is alive, Mykala!

  • We're ready for the Olympics

The Bits are absolutely jacked for the Summer Olympics which kick off on July 26. Find out which sporting events they can’t miss, which local athletes to keep an eye on and who we are excited to see in general. Plus, Quinn goes OFF on her dislike of tennis… specifically the players, and… she’s not wrong. *disclaimer: Quinn wrote this description.

  • We're Fine. No, really, we are!

Well, the cup didn't come home this week but that's not keeping us down at The Bits. We do have some thoughts and feelings to work through though...join us as we recap the loss, some highlights from the season, and our "special boys" of the playoffs. And if you're an Oilers hater, don't worry, the Flames and Canucks fans get a shoutout too. Later in the episode, we touch on the upcoming NHL draft and concerns we have for next season's roster with salary conversations in the mix.

  • Drag 'em back. This series is not over!

The boys are back in town. After forcing a game 6 which will take place at home, the Stanley Cup feels more within reach than ever this round. The ladies talk about game 6, the shift in momentum (and the shift in fan morale), and some predictions. Later in the episode we also discuss Cameron Brink's devastating injury.

  • Hopes for Games 3 & 4, Florida Boy & Who Would Ya Spoon

Quinn, an international woman of mystery, is away this week, so Claire and Paulina hold down the fort with discussions around the Stanley Cup final (of course), discussing what we hope to see in the next couple of games here at home, and a follow up on our "Is Knoblauch Gutsy Enough" segment. We also debate issues with future "Florida Man" (you know, the shirtless kid trolling the camera at the Florida games?). Plus, another round of "Who Would Ya Spoon", Florida Panthers edition - don't worry, we hated every second of it.

  • It's Stanley Cup Final Time

This is not a drill, everyone! The Edmonton Oilers are back in the Stanley Cup final for the first time since 2006. We'll take a different approach than the other guys and look back at our NOT SO HOT TAKES from November when the team was 30th in the NHL. We certainly can't claim to be fortune tellers but we do have passion. We'll also talk about a brave pencil that wrote a new story (you gotta listen to understand). We also dive into the controversy, and frankly, the anger, in the WNBA as their fan base grows thanks to Caitlin Clark. Do we think it's justified? An overreaction? Tune in to hear our thoughts.
