James Sligo Jameson, heir to the Jameson Whiskey fortune, fancied himself an adventurer, despite a rather controversial history. He took part in one of the last European expeditions into central Africa and allegedly instigated and witnessed a horrific cannibalistic ritual.

This ill-fated journey claimed the lives of many in the expedition party, under the pretense of a rescue mission to save a colonial governor.
