The importance of Good Girl Friends & Sisterhood
In a society that works so hard to bring Black women down and put them against one another, we must support and empower each other. The assumption that we can't be friends is biased and ignores the fact that we have beautiful friendships. We can celebrate, support, empower, create, and form lifelong bonds.
It is essential to have a circle of like-minded women who support you because by creating this space to share our stories and experiences, we can learn from each other, help each other through difficult times, and create a strong connection based on admiration, mutual respect, and understanding. Through our friendships, we can also create a strong network of support and collaboration to help us progress and reach our goals. Sisterhood is about the bonds you build with women you can always count on. These are our girls, our ride-or-die, our twin, our better half, and our besties. They are the women who know all your secrets but don't judge; they help you through a breakup and genuinely want to see you happy and prosperous. Knowing that you have a community of women who will always have your back, whether you win or lose or are wrong or right, is why it's important to have good girlfriends.
