In this week's Mind Remapping episode, I am joined by Sheree Carara to share the importance of recognizing emotional disconnect, surrendering to the process of healing, and the transformative potential of rebirth therapy. Throughout our conversation, Sheree and I recognized that true healing often begins with a willingness to confront and embrace all aspects of the self. Join us in this illuminating episode as we journey together toward greater emotional awareness, acceptance, and wholeness.
Key Takeaways:
Helpful Resource:
Rebirth therapy focuses on helping individuals detoxify their emotions and release past traumas, allowing them to experience personal transformation and healing.
Notable Highlights:
“In our society today, in general, everybody is so disconnected from emotion, disconnected from our bodies and experiencing our bodies and we're disconnected from each other.”
“When I finally surrendered and just let go of needing to know this has to be fixed, I was able to get the clarity, strength, and courage to get the divorce.”
“What we know is, that trauma lives in the mind, but trauma lives in the body, and the emotions are in the body.”

Key Takeaways:
Helpful Resource:
When we accept our current situation, it doesn't mean we're satisfied with it. It just means we acknowledge it and can work with it to move forward.
Notable Highlights:
“Life is a discovery and a constant rediscovery too.”
"People with less external resources can still end up thriving."
"The resources and the tools to thrive are not always outside you. It's coming to remember and unlock the resources and the tools inside of you."
"The hustle and bustle of our lives make us silence our inner voice, inner wisdom, inner intuition, and it makes us seek outside for these tools which are inside."
"As we think about changing the world, like we can start within our families, home, and workplace and create ripple effects."
"We need to allow our purpose to evolve."

In this week's Mind Remapping episode, I will share with you my journey of waking up in an uncomfortable emotional space and how I overcame it by naming and acknowledging my emotions, creating a safe space to express them, and truly listening to my body. You will also learn of the harmful myth of leaving your feelings at the door and the impact this mindset can have on our relationships and well-being.
Key Takeaways:
Helpful Resource:
Listening to Your Body - Our bodies are incredible instruments of communication. They often convey our emotional states long before our minds can fully process them. The ability to interpret the signals our bodies send us is a powerful tool for emotional intelligence and self-care.
Notable Highlights:
“Oftentimes when we don't name our emotions, when we don't honor what's going on with ourselves, it will impact the people around us.”
“Oftentimes, what we can't name, we often dismiss or try to push away.”
“When you name your emotional experience, it gives you access to what you need to do next to take care of yourself.”
“If you don't take a moment to honor and name the experience that you're having, then you will end up pushing through and the impact of your experience will often bleed on others.”
“Some people shy away from positive emotional experiences because they're so used to negative emotional experiences that positive emotional experiences feel foreign.”

Buckle up as we explore this crucial aspect of parenting and learn practical strategies for promoting healthy emotional development in our kids.
Key Takeaways:
Helpful Resource:
The three-step approach of awareness, acceptance, and action can be a powerful tool for addressing challenges with a sense of mindfulness.

"Mama was always harder on the daughter than on the son if dad was not in the picture, that spousification thing is starting to gel now."
"It's important to understand that as that vacuum takes place because of a parent's absence, it's not appropriate for a child to take care of that."
"Crossing the generational line comes from wanting to fix or solve the problem so that you can feel better."
"It's ok for a parent to show emotion in front of their child so long as they're not putting the responsibility on the child for them to make their child responsible for fixing."
"A child's first language is energy."
"The most important person usually in the child's life is the same sex parent."
"Denial is a river in Egypt, but it's also a thing we tend to do when we feel convicted."

In this week's Mind Remapping episode, I will share with you the complexities and contradictions that come with trauma and how we can embody the art of holding space for these complexities. Buckle up as we discover how trauma responses differ among individuals and how empathy, understanding, and emotional intelligence can foster healing and help us make a difference.
Key Takeaways:
Helpful Resource:
Holding space helps us navigate the complexity of trauma as we allow other people's harm to be valid and still not invalidate our own experience.
Notable Highlights:
“Almost everyone probably carries some trauma. You can't have lived a life and not been impacted.”
“The belief sets up the view of how people see things, communicate, receive communication, how they experience emotion or not, and how they dissociate from emotion.”
“When people are responding from trauma, oftentimes they're in tunnel vision.”
“Both people can be correct in certain ways and manners.”
“Acknowledging another person's harm does not invalidate the trauma that you've experienced.”
“The reaction from the wounded place is not the most powerful reaction and it can be harmful. On the other hand, recognizing the wounded place is powerful.”

In this week's Mind Remapping episode, I am joined by Dr. Kimmy Reynolds to share with you what truly coaching is and what it isn’t, and how to effectively empower coaches to adapt to their client’s unique needs. Tune in as we explore the keys to unlocking your potential and transforming your approach to coaching, sales, and life.
Key Takeaways:
Helpful Resource:
Anchoring confidence in coaching is a valuable tool for enhancing effectiveness and creating a supportive environment for clients.
Notable Highlights:
"Coaching is misrepresented in a way that a coach tells a person what to do, but that is not coaching. It is a partnership between two people."
“Framework bridges where your clients are and where they want to be. People want a roadmap, they want to know where they're going, and they need that structure to feel safe.”
About Dr. Kimmy Reynolds, MD
Dr. Kimmy is a double Board-Certified Pediatric Hospitalist and CEO of The Doctor Coach School. She first built her business as a Procrastination Coach, helping professional women break the cycle of self-sabotage so that they could level up their lives after she was able to push through procrastination and develop systems and processes to overcome her own overwhelm.

helping women doctors master their messaging and learn how to sell. She was able to help several of her clients develop thriving coaching businesses and sell high-ticket, high-impact coaching.
This led to the creation of The Doctor Coach School. DCS is for doctors who want to learn the mindset, belief-set, and strategies to build a thriving coaching business that is rooted in purpose. Dr. Kimmy believes that the only way to fully master coaching is to coach lots of clients, and the only way to create lots of clients is through confident selling.

SHOWNOTES:
In this week’s Mind ReMapping Moment, I am joined by Noah Prince, and we delve deep into the crucial topics of psychological safety and the insider-outsider paradigm. We discuss how these concepts intersect within organizational dynamics and personal relationships, shedding light on the importance of creating inclusive environments where everyone feels valued and respected.
The conversation begins with an exploration of the exodus witnessed during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic and racial justice protests, where many professionals, particularly women and people of color, opted for remote work and entrepreneurship due to concerns about psychological safety and equity in traditional workplace settings.
Dr. Maiysha and Noah dissect the performative nature of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts, emphasizing the need for genuine introspection and systemic change within organizations to foster true psychological safety. They highlight the role of leadership in setting the tone for organizational culture and the imperative of creating safe spaces for learning, growth, and making mistakes.
Drawing parallels between organizational dynamics and personal relationships, they stress the importance of practicing empathy, active listening, and self-reflection to cultivate psychological safety in all aspects of life. They tease an upcoming collaborative training initiative aimed at merging the insider-outsider paradigm with psychological safety training to enhance organizational culture and effectiveness.
I encourage you to apply the insights gained from this episode not only within your professional life but also within your families, communities, and personal growth journey. Noah and I invite your engagement if you're interested in transforming your culture and improving overall well-being and effectiveness, whether as an individual or as part of an organization. Let's embark on this journey together towards creating inclusive environments and fostering psychological safety.

SHOW NOTES:
In This week’s Mind ReMapping Moment, we delve into the topic of The Information Black Hole. How to move from talking to taking action.
Dr. Maiysha draws from her experiences as a coach and organizational consultant to identify the common tendency termed "analysis paralysis" observed in individuals navigating their careers. Through a personal example of her journey into real estate investing, Dr. Maiysha highlights the trap of endlessly seeking information without taking decisive action. There's a critical point where continuous learning must transition from conceptual understanding to practical application.
I emphasize the significance of moving from theory to action, drawing insights from my experience in real estate, and extending the discussion to address broader career changes and transitions.
There are parallels between personal experiences and organizational challenges, particularly in anti-racism, anti-oppression, and trauma-informed communication. The common tendency is to focus on learning concepts without effectively applying them within organizational settings. Leaders need to bridge the gap between understanding the concepts and actively developing personal skills, thereby shaping the culture within their respective domains.
Further, I'll stress the importance of taking action by engaging in hard conversations and practicing new communication and listening skills. Acknowledging the inherent messiness in the process, I'll underscore the necessity of learning from real-time experiences. The discussion will link organizational culture to leadership development, highlighting the pivotal role of leaders in setting the tone for anti-oppression and trauma-informed practices.
In conclusion, do self-reflection on your leadership to identify areas where you may be stuck on concepts and consider reaching out for assistance in bridging the gap.
