John reflects on the challenges of navigating his diagnosis, undergoing multiple cystoscopies and TURBT procedures, and adapting to life under ongoing surveillance. 

John also opens up about the emotional toll of facing bladder cancer while dealing with several serious health issues at the same time, including a heart condition and a neurological event. Throughout his experience, he turned to research, patient forums, and conversations with his healthcare team to better understand his diagnosis and treatment options.  

Now proudly calling himself a cancer survivor, John shares how his experience has shaped his outlook on life and why he believes it's important to share his story to help others feel less alone on their own bladder cancer journeys.

In this episode, BCAM Ambassador Ron C. shares his experience navigating a bladder cancer diagnosis after a large micropapillary tumor was found in his bladder. He describes how he first spotted blood in his urine during a camping trip with his wife, leading him to get checked out at a nearby emergency clinic. Ron shares his experience undergoing treatment for bladder cancer and how he coped with the physical and emotional challenges that came up as a result. Having now been given the all-clear by his medical team, Ron has been able to resume his active lifestyle and says he’s feeling better than ever.

Susan’s bladder cancer journey began in 2012. Little did she know at the time that her journey would span over 10 years, 45 rounds of BCG, 39 Cystoscopies, 8 surgeries, 4 rounds of intravesical chemotherapy, a radical cystectomy, a nephrectomy and a hysterectomy. 

In this episode, Susan reflects on how she navigated her various treatments, any side effects experienced, and how she was able to return to living life “normally”.
