I have a blazer I love to wear.
When I put it on, I feel elegant. I feel respectful toward the guests I am going to meet.
It doesn’t really matter what I’m wearing underneath.
It could be a simple top, not the nicest one.
It doesn’t even have to match my shoes or my earrings.
And yet, the blazer changes my image.
It covers me in a way that makes me feel confident.
And that made me think.
If a simple piece of clothing can change how I feel and how I present myself, what about the coverings in our lives?
Do you feel covered where you are right now?
Do the friendships you’re in or those you are fostering cover you, protect you, help you become who you are called to be?
Is the person you share your life with covering your dreams and aspirations?
And just as important…
Are you covering theirs?
Today I wore my blazer and received a few compliments.
But that’s not what mattered.
What mattered is how I felt.
And I also know this:
This blazer is not the most important piece in my wardrobe.
The most important covering in my life is who stands over me, who prays for me, who believes in me, and who I choose to cover in return.
So tell me…
Do you have a favorite blazer?
And more importantly,
Do you have your covering?
