The Blind Podsmen: A Zatoichi Podcast

Tonight's episode brings us to the showdown we have all been waiting for: Zatoichi vs. Yojimbo. However, like many entries in this series, things are not what they seem (the twist is that it's not a very good movie)

From IMDB: Zatoichi (Shintarô Katsu) becomes a drunken bodyguard's (Toshirô Mifune) adversary when he becomes caught up in a feud between a village boss and the man's son over stolen gold.

After a loooooong break we are back with movie 19, a soft reboot of sorts of the Blind Swordsman series explores a darker, less controlled Zatoichi as he finds himself once again in conflict.

From IMDB: Zatoichi is tricked by a crime gang into killing a man. Realizing his mistake, he sets out to protect the dead man's sister, who is conflicted in accepting his help.

Tonight we are visiting the 20th film in the Zatoichi series, 1968's Zatoichi and the Fugatives. This one is a surprisingly dark entry in the series featuring a tremendous amount of gore and violence and almost no humor.

We are back and this episode is a real doozy. Tonight we stray away from our original path to dive into the slimiest, grossest time of the year: Ghoul Summer. We are watching 1960's The Blind Menace starring Shintaro Katsu, a film about a blind murderer and con artist that predates Zatoichi by 2 years.
