Had a great conversation with Aida Oghabi (Senior Account Manager at Google, where she dissected what digital marketing is, the future of the space, how she got in and some tips of how to get into the industry. She then went on to share some of what has been keeping her going as she navigates her career. Oh, and we even talked about one of her impressive hobbies. Lots of stuff – just go listen and you would be happy you did.

A company is not doing you a favor by giving you a job. They have a challenge they want to solve, which is why the job is out there in the first place. So to stand out and get the best out of your next interview, you need to go in as someone who would bring in a lot of value and got what it takes to do the job. Going in with such a mentality will positively affect the way you perform in your next interview. 

Dealing with rejections during your job search can be tough. However, it is very important to keep your head up so you do not lose motivation and momentum but to keep on going because at the end of it all, that job, that role you have been waiting would come. 

Most of us under estimate the effort needed to excel in a country other than ours. 

We under estimate the time requirement needed to learn a new language, to understand the culture and fit in, let go of some unknown  biases, build new connections, adjust to different styles of working and so on. The list is endless.

We underestimate all these and think it's a stroll in the pack. It is not. 

Treat your CV as a product and make sure its client ready because typos is the one thing that makes it easier for HR to toss your CV / Cover Letter.

You don't want to make it easy for them. Heck, you want to do everything in your power to take yourself out of the equation - outsource that decision making process to them. 

But if you have typos in your CV / Cover Letter, you do exactly the opposite. You make it easier for them to toss you out. 

I have gone through lots of CVs and I realized that most of you are not using the "Other Experience" section to your advantage. 

It is your gold mine and you have nothing to lose in this section. I indulge you to start using this if you arent already. 

One of your least worries when ever you apply for a job should be your competition. 

There is nothing you can do about your competition. If you start worrying about them, you let that occupy a space in your brain that you should otherwise be using to work on making yourself the one candidate for the job.
