Bill Ottman, Founder and CEO of Minds returns to the podcast and we welcome Daryl Davis who recently joined the team at Minds as they unveil their Deradicalization Initiative (www.minds.com).
Davis, an accomplished R&B musician, has been passionate about deradicalization for decades, documenting his journey of reaching to the other side in his 1998 book, Klan-destine Relationships: A Black Man's Odyssey in the Ku Klux Klan. Minds.com is on the forefront of making the Internet a more tolerant place, recently having a successful dialogue about race, politics, and other challenging topics at their Minds IRL event in New Jersey earlier this year.
Minds offers its users unlimited reach and the ability to earn points, a form of digital currency, just for using the app. Points are then used to ‘Boost’ posts to wider audiences. Every upload, vote, swipe and ‘Remind’ (share) earns points that are stored in each user’s wallet. Users may then send offers of points to other users, peer-to-peer, in exchange for shares of their content to those audiences. Or, users can Boost content site-wide by exchanging their points with Minds for increased views.
Ethan interviews Roneil Rumberg from Audius, a decentralized music streaming service that launched a public beta recently and is already one of the biggest consumer crypto apps with more than 30,000 users onboard. Backed by some of the top VCs, including General Catalyst, KPCB, Lightspeed, and Pantera, Audius is driving mainstream crypto adoption.
Roneil speaks on:
His background as a seed investor into blockchain and AI companies, how he co-founded a peer-to-peer bitcoin payment company, and ultimately what led him to founding Audius.
The need for a truly decentralized music platform. Platforms like Soundcloud and Spotify provide little-to-no control or transparency on how artists distribute their content.
The future of music. Will artists be able to thrive in a censorship-resistant, transparent, community-driven world? How will artists and fans adapt to a blockchain-powered streaming service?
Ethan talks with Flex Moore from Fight To Fame, the first blockchain-based sports entertainment platform paving new paths to fame for action superstars. Fernando Carrillo makes a brief cameo midway through the episode.
With the backing of Carrillo and other established talent, Fight To Fame is creating the future of sports entertainment, powered by a blockchain-based platform to fuel everything from global fan engagement to fair and more transparent monetization opportunities for fighters. The company is leading a global talent competition to unearth the next generation of fighters through a series of combat challenges. The ultimate winners from this contest will go on to secure starring roles in upcoming Hollywood action films, thanks to key partnerships the company has forged with production companies.

Kevin Wang is a co-founder of Nervos, a public blockchain designed by a former Ethereum core developer and backed by Sequoia, Polychain, and others. As one of China's top projects, Nervos recently partnered with crypto exchange Huobi to build a new public chain for banks and financial institutions.
Kevin was responsible for Nervos' unique token economics design where users will eventually pay "rent" to store assets and smart contracts on the network. He believes this type of model is critical if blockchains are to scale. Same goes for the layered design, which splits the public consensus layer from the transactional layer to increase a blockchain's performance while balancing security and trust.
