The Blue and Black Podcast

On this episode, we chat to Old Boy Abe O'Donnell, member of the Green party about how he transitioned to politics straight out of high school, his view on assemblies at school, and why he decides to live a meat-free life.

In this special episode of the podcast, Matua Daniels shares with us the story of one of CBHS's greatest alumni, Riki Te Mairaki Taiaroa. A perfect report student, who featured in the original First XV and played for the New Zealand Native football team from 1888-89, then became a Rifleman in the Boer War and received the Order of the British Empire for his services to the Māori people. We have a look at where this all fits in our modern-day society.

This episode we have Mr Dunnett join us who is leading the construction of the new buildings. He shares how he went from teaching through to overseeing the building efforts, what's new in the Caddick and Caldwell blocks, and what Mr Drayton plans on doing with one of the TK classrooms.

Join us this week as we have the Senior Monitor and his two deputies share their school experiences, what it's like to travel abroad with CBHS, and the most important question of all. Is there life on another planet?

This week we have the Altiora Peto Award recipient, Ashley Wilson, join us for a chat about Christchurch's differences from 75 years ago, how he could distract teachers by asking them about their war experiences, and his life studying science in and out of New Zealand.

Join Kayden and Ezekiel as they chat to Jordan Horrell, the HOD for English, about his dreams of playing cricket overseas, how he wanted Mr Hill's job and his plans after CBHS.

Kayden and Ezekiel chat with the Year 11 Dean, maths teacher and Old Boy about how Mr Thomas inspired him to be a teacher, his life before teaching and the type of student he was at Straven Road.
