What an honor and a privilege to chat with Ken Walls on the podcast. This man is such a giver. Such a big heart, and a desire to make time for people. Why do I say that? “Forced into an unexpected career transition (a layoff), it was imperative I muster the strength to find a new way of providing for my family. How can I maintain a positive outlook after being “let go” and forced to deal with the cruel reality of landing a new job, position and career? One morning, a single message awakened me and pounded in my head. “I must be STRONG for my family.” I quickly reached for my nightstand journal and wrote S-T-R-O-N-G:

From that morning’s S-T-R-O-N-G message, a daily writing routine began. Each day delivered a new message and forced me to pause, think, and frame a positive expectation for the day. Each message guided my thoughts, intentions and actions as I sought the new opportunity that would offer even greater potential. I shared the messages daily with my family. Together we formed an unstoppable optimism to persevere. We learned to take any setback and make it our springboard lifting us above any potentially adverse situation.

Within 45 days, I landed a fantastic position with a great company. The messages continued to flow and motivate me to work hard to make good things happen in my new role. My writing emerged out of necessity, yet lasted four hundred consecutive days. They became a joyful routine of finding more inspiration and strength. Everything I learned in those days created something inspiring.”

James Golden was thrust into the entrepreneurial world at an early age, and his story is one that really encouraged me when it comes to the ups and downs of the journey as a business owner. He found himself quite successful at an age when his friends were not making nearly what he was making, and then it all fell apart around him, and James was forced to reevaluate and level up. James has extensive knowledge in the pavement management space, and has a company called, (so weird the coincidence) Pavement Management Group. They are changing the technology in the industry, and working to level up the results that can be achieved, allowing tax dollars to be applied to solutions that truly take advantage of tax dollars.

David Webb is a second generation equipment repair expert, specializing in lifts of all kinds, especially spider lifts and other products for the tree industry. Kit Moore and I had a terrific conversation about growth, risk, and common themes around those topics as they relate to entrepreneurs. We answer questions like "Why is risk central to growth and development? " and "What are some methods to manage risk?"  

Kit is the chief servant at BluePrint CPAs. Sure, he's a specialized tax accountant (CPA, CA) and can help you save in the six figures. More importantly, he's a serial entrepreneur with a ton of enthusiasm for growth strategies and execution.  His industry depth in technology, construction, real estate, energy, agriculture and even cannabis deregulation complements his technical expertise in growth strategy, advanced tax structures, innovation, mergers and corporate finance.  He's also a proud father and hubby - he loves Cassondra and his four children even more than entrepreneurship.
