Firstly Peter Santenello joins the Bob Davis Podcast for an Interview.

Secondly Peter and I became acquainted three years ago at Quartzite, Arizona.

In addition Peter and I became pretty good friends as a result of that interaction three years ago.

Furthermore he has helped me with my YouTube Project.

Not to mention the fact that appearing in a video on Santenllo’s channel documenting his experience with us in the desert that year.

Equally if not more important is our collaboration this month on a video in Arizona.

To begin with Arizona has so many diverse cities and towns.

And there are always stories to tell.

Therefore our trip entailed visiting four completely different Arizona Towns.

That is to say Sedona, Clarksburg, The Yavapai-Apache Nation, Jerome and Prescott.

Even more my new rig, Mobile Podcast Command Unit 11, is prominently featured in Peter’s new video.

Thirdly we decided to sit down for a podcast on my channel the day after our little tour of mid northern Arizona.

Because I create unique content for the audio podcast as opposed to the video channel, Peter-Santenello-Interview-Bob Davis Podcast 1169, includes content not in the video on my YouTube Channel found here.

Afterward we talked about the trip, and the experiences we had.

For one thing we agree the America people experience through social media is not the reality.

In the hope this fact may be better understood Peter and I discuss how travel broadens the mind and softens harsh judgements.

Fourthly we talk about Peter’s experience with his many videos and interviews.

All in all we had a great adventure.

In essence telling part of the Arizona Historical story and sharing our own observations.

All things considered we talked about the mining and ranching history of Arizona as well as our impressions of life in The Grand Canyon State.

And Grand It Is.

Is my rig wrecked? Find out in Is-My-Rig-Wrecked-Bob Davis Podcast 1168. Firstly most of the time my nomad travel experience is bliss.

Secondly when things go wrong it doesn’t mean the end of the world.

On the contrary when things go wrong the result can be a transformative experience.

That’s what Is-My-Rig-Wrecked-Bob Davis Podcast 1168 is all about.

For example I was in the middle of pure travel bliss.

And then I discovered a fuel leak.

As a result I visited the service department at the nearest Love’s truck stop.

Subsequently the service department confirmed the fuel link but said they don’t usually do that kind of work.

After that they recommended Freightliner Truck Service…

On the other hand the Freightliner Service was eighty miles away.

So with a fuel link that was out.

At length I found a heavy truck service place in Coachella and made an appointment for the next day, Monday.

As luck would have it I was spending a pleasant Sunday in the Love’s lot when an 18 Wheeler backed in to one of my doors which was open.

Certainly all the details are in Is-My-Rig-Wrecked-Bob Davis Podcast 1168.

To explain, it was an accident.

In addition more than one correspondent on my you tube channel reminded me these kinds of accidents happen all the time at truck stops.

After that I headed over to the Heavy Truck repair…

And ended up spending a week there.

Furthermore I had some time to determine the best course of action on getting my door repaired.

Therefore I ended up in the town of Joshua Tree, California dealing with a perfectly delightful and highly competent fabricator.

All in all the truck can be repaired and I have even added a few twists to the original plan.

To that end the truck might be better than before!

All things considered it’s so important to maintain a positive attitude.

What’s it like to live in a converted fire truck for one day in Death Valley? Join me for details in One-Day-In-Death-Valley-Bob Davis Podcast 1167.

Firstly I have been doing podcasts about the new rig.

In fact it has become sort of series.

Without a doubt my repurposed 1999 Freightliner FL-70 First Responder Unit 11 is a dream.

But I get a lot of questions from listeners and viewers asking what it is like to live in this vehicle.

Secondly if you watch the YouTube channel video here you’ll get a good visual idea.

In addition this audio podcast has more specific content regarding what I did and why.

Furthermore I am able to spend a little more time on the audio podcasts talking about topics like solitude.

As well as why I won’t discuss current events in these podcasts either on video or audio.

Thirdly the Death Valley backdrop is great for video if you want to watch.

Equally important the Death Valley backdrop is so valuable for mindfulness.

Correspondingly I can’t get enough of this special place.

And I want to come here for a new experience every year.

Consequently you can expect Death Valley podcasts every now and then in the future.

Generally speaking one can spend about thirty days per year in the park.

With this in mind I want to use up every moment of that thirty days.

Especially in winter.

Another key point concerning this trip was the rain.

Certainly we don’t associate Death Valley with rain.

Yet it does rain in the park every now and then.

Surprisingly when it does rain there is a vast palette of colors and light.

In the same fashion the vastness adds up to a very emotional impact.

Most importantly the solitude and quiet becomes quite an asset.

In view of the insanity in the everyday world having the opportunity to spend some quiet time becomes a huge asset.

To put it another way it is said either you love Death Valley or you can’t wait to leave.

Of course I am the prior rather than the latter.

Above all I am one of those who cannot get enough of this place.

Finally all the social media experts tell creators to ‘lean in’ to current issues.

That is to say this is the way a creator becomes more ‘relatable’.

However this isn’t what motivates me as a creator.

All of the sudden it becomes very important and relevant to actually provide a place where current events talk doesn’t take away from the pure experience.

All in all the pure experience might be the most relevant thing we need right now.

Firstly, I’ve always wanted to take the Texas Grit Road Trip. A more than thousand mile romp through Texas from the Gulf to the West Texas Oil Fields. It’s all in Texas-Grit-Road-Trip-Bob Davis Podcast 1166.

Secondly I’ve got a great new rig that needs a shakedown cruise.

Weirdly enough the Texas Grit Road Trip starts as a matter of fact our trip starts in Tennessee, of all places.

That is to say I got a great suggestion from a friend to hit the Natchez Trail.

Analogous to great scenic routes like Skyline Drive along the Blue Ridge the Natchez Trace trail runs from Tennessee all the way to Natchez, Mississippi.

Henceforth I headed into Louisiana and then on down to Corpus Christie Texas. And now we’re getting into the core of the Texas-Grit-Road-Trip-Bob Davis Podcast 1166

Accordingly this podcast highlights some of the beach camping options as well as a few truck stops along the way.

Thereafter all along the Texas-Mexico Border on up to Del Rio.

Afterward to the best part of the trip, the road North to Pecos, Texas.

And out to the oil fields in West Texas.

Finally following the route through the Guadalupe Mountains back down to the border across New Mexico to Arizona.

Above all there’s a lot to this podcast.

To emphasize the working nature of this part of the United States the traffic out in the oil fields is as intense as any major city.

Notwithstanding the fact that all the vehicles were heavy trucks carrying all kinds of cargo to and from the fields.

At length the so called ‘man-camps’, truck stops and pull off points with everyone seeming to be on a mission.

Certainly it’s true I love to cover ground in my travels.

Most importantly it’s a chance to see people doing what they do.

And this part of the world seems to be focused on work.

In light of the nature of the places I got to see there’s also a ton of history here.

At the present time you might see a place like Sanderson, Texas that looks a little worn down…

But not know that a tornado a few years ago nearly destroyed the place.

But stories like that are common in a part of the world where harsh conditions prevail.

All things considered these places live up to the reputation.

That is to say this part of the country was forged by true grit.

Finally I use the term ‘Grit’ in as positive a manner as I can express.

All things considered Texas itself has never been an ‘easy’ place to live.

On the whole these days life in the big cities can be pretty cushy.

In truth though, whether it’s ranching, farming or oil West Texas is a place that values and embodies hard work.

New Rig Roadtrip Ready. Firstly, got a new rig and a big announcement for long time listeners and subscribers to The Bob Davis Podcasts.

Secondly getting these two things done this summer proved to be difficult. One of the reasons there hasn’t been a new podcast in awhile.

In other words sometimes it felt like there were roadblocks at every corner.

When things get tough it’s important to realize it’s one step after another.

By all means follow through became the order of the day.

To begin with I wanted a School Bus.

However searching for a ‘Skoolie’ proved to be disappointing to the point of becoming depressing.

At length I decided I needed help.

Enter my old friend Ed Johnson. Afterward things got easier and more fun.

In reality Ed couldn’t understand why I wanted a school bus.

In the long run I ended up with a decommissioned Fire Rescue truck.

All in all this turned out to be the best thing that could have happened.

Because my deadline for leaving Wisconsin around Labor Day…

And due to the fact we took possession of the truck on Labor Day…

In reality I had a lot of work to do in the next few weeks to get the new rig road trip ready.

With this in mind when we bought the new rig we didn’t realize the weight and air brakes required a CDL to drive it.

So I had to go get a CDL.

In addition there was the issue of Solar Power, creating a living space in a different space, and getting heat in there.

As a result as fall drew its veil over the fields and lake I went to work.

At the end of the day I managed to get out of dodge just before the first snows in early November.

As I have noted I learned a lot about manifesting what one might want.

On the whole I was surprised at how what I wanted and what I ended up with turned out to be better than I could have imagined.

Finally there’s a lot of people to thank…

All of the sudden I have a new story to tell.

In time I’ll also share how doing a bunch of stuff I didn’t think I could gave me a new confidence.

In conclusion I am already back out on the road in the new Unit 11.

Certainly I’ve been honored to receive contributions from many listeners and subscribers to these podcasts.

And I want to do something so that future donations can be at least somewhat rewarding to contributors.

Therefore I am working on some financial changes this summer.

In addition I’ve traveled the USA in the same rig for ten years now.

As a matter of fact Mobile Podcast Command as originally used aa an audio truck back when I needed mixers and studio microphones to do a podcast.

And I travelled quite a bit on those days across the country.

Subsequently I decided to hit the road permanently with the advent of the pandemic in late 2020.

The idea I was going to hit the road in a luxurious RV is equally important.

All things considered I ended up in Mobile Podcast Command.

As a result I have been sleeping on the floor of this 25 year old Ambulance for the past ten years.

Therefore I am looking for a new rig.

In addition I devote a fair amount of time in this podcast to rural America and Wisconsin small towns.

Furthermore there are plenty of stories about how much I am enjoying one of the best summers in a long time up at the lake.

To emphasize how my approach to these podcasts has evolved over the years I talk about how I develop content.

Finally I get a lot of questions these days about Quartzsite which I answer with some real talk.

Secondly holiday travel trips are usually short distance.

For example Memorial Day, Fourth of July and Labor Day.

However in high summer there’s nothing like a mega road trip to ease your mind…

And make life great again.

Above all so called nomad life is really a series of roadtrips.

So after ten years traveling and five years on the road full time I can give you some ideas to work with.

Another key point is the pressure many people feel with modern life.

Therefore the need for longer trips is a consideration.

In addition anyone will learn from exploration and travel.

By the same token I think longer trips help is ease into going with the flow.

And going with the flow means more fun as a result.

Finally I chose these three trips as a general idea.

That is to say they’re designed generally so you can access them pretty much no matter where you are in the United States.

On the other hand a lot of my travels recently have been in the Southwestern United States.

Because I don’t like to do repetitive content these are different ideas.

Accordingly the first trip takes us to Glacier National Forest on US 2 from the Midwest.

Of course you might want to go all the way to Seattle.

Secondly there’s nothing like the Outer Banks on the Atlantic.

Eventually taking us from Northern Florida, Georgia, South Carolina all the way to North Carolina.

To be sure there are beaches…

And long Ferry Rides.

These features coupled with the history make this a great roadtrip.

Thirdly another coastal trip.

But this one is along the Gulf Coast.

Specifically The Red Neck Riviera.

That is to say the coastal roads from Tallahassee all the way to Mobile, Alabama.

By all means this is one I like to take every time I head west.

On the positive side there’s plenty of beaches, food and lodging along the way.

Not to mention plenty of history.

All things considered these are my suggestions for some real fun and an escape this summer.

Spring in Wisconsin is all about embracing change. The same is true in life. We’ll talk about it in Embracing-Change-Wisconsin-Spring-Bob Davis Podcast 1162.

Above the thing about travel is the constant change.

Therefore when I stop down for the summer in Wisconsin I am confronted with these same issues in life.

As a matter of fact as I work harder and harder on my videos for the YouTube Channel that in itself is a big personal change.

Equally important is the nature of the season of spring.

After all most of my travel this winter has been in the Southwestern US.

And I have produced several videos and podcasts about my travels.

For example the Pacific Coast Highway in California, Death Valley and finally heading east on America’s Loneliest Highway Route 50.

Given many thousands of miles of nomadic travel this season staying in one spot gives me an opportunity to watch a full seasonal change.

Spring eventually becomes summer.

Firstly up here in Northwestern Wisconsin when one is existing in the depths of winter…

It’s undeniably true that it feels like summer will never come.

But it does!

And it’s truly glorious.

Because I was able to see the change from barren brown and grey to verdant green and blue skies…

I was able to draw the analogy to changes in life as a result,

‘Secondly it is also true that we resist change.

Yet we run to the change of seasons.

Especially winter to spring and then on to summer.

Given these points I wonder why we don’t embrace change in our lives in the same manner?

Even if we’re moving from Fall to Winter we might be grateful the heat of summer has passed.

In contrast when it comes to personal change we wonder what we did to ‘deserve’ a certain result.

Or we fight to prevent the change from happening.

Finally we’re living through an era significant because of its complexity and chaotic change.

On the one hand change is good,

On the other hand it isn’t always easy to handle.

Even more we all age.

In addition those around us grow up and grow old.

In spite of our efforts people pass away.

Afterward I’ve always thought it strange that they have moved on but all their stuff is still here.

Meanwhile lie goes on and we must cope.

Also from time to time we are confronted with difficult circumstances which have the same finality.

At this instant it isn’t easy.

But we have to go on.

These days I am thinking it is better to embrace change than to fight it.

Firstly US Route 50 is unofficially called the Loneliest American Highway. Join me for the trip in Loneliest-American-Highway-US-50-Bob Davis Podcast 1161.

But Route 50 turns out to be one of the best road trips you can take.

With this in mind as I ended my mega road trip up the California coast…

I headed for Sacramento as soon as I wrapped up on the Pacific Coast Highway.

However US Route 50 is something altogether different.

That is to say we start in the mountains and deserts of Eastern California.

In particular in these mountains I encountered my first ‘free’ campsite.

In contrast with the bracing breezes on the West Coast my first campground was a thriving babbling brook.

Most importantly I arrived too early in the year for the campground to be open.

But the gate was down and other people were camping.

Therefore I spent a great first night at the side of the brook.

Subsequently on into the California and Nevada deserts.

Above all I can say there is little more in this life more therapeutic than a deserted two lane highway stretching into infinity.

In other words if what you seek is the open road US 50 has it in spades.

Equally important are the shifts from mountains to valleys and deserts as we travel this route.

Certainly these days we all wonder what will happen next.

Even more the pressures of day to day life and corporate life are heavy for many.

I took a closer look at many small towns along the way with this purpose in mind

In other words if you didn’t do what you’re doing now how would you do whatever comes next

As an illustration of that question small towns like Ely, Nevada and Delta Colorado help the traveler imagine what life would be like if things were a little different.

Finally moving into the Colorado Mountains including crossing the Continental Divide at Mammoth Mountain.

Then we moved straightaway into the plains of Eastern Colorado and Western Kansas.

From time to time camping at more free campgrounds, national parks like The Great Basin and Black Canyon, and an occasional Truck Stop.

In addition to the meditation of driving there’s a lot of history in this region of the country.

Especially ending in Fort Dodge Kansas, I am reminded of the ranching history of the plains as well as the mining, pioneer and Native American history of Colorado, Nevada and California.

To this end there are artifacts like the Petroglyphs in Nevada where people lived and thrived more than ten thousand years ago.

To sum up all of this is waiting to be experienced on supposedly the loneliest highway in the United States.

But I think Route 50 is one of the best highways.

What’s more the scenery is stunning.

By all means there’s plenty of information about what routes I took from Death Valley to the coast.

And on up the coast to the Redwoods.

Thirdly I do not tell listeners ‘how’ so much in these podcasts and on the video channel as I show and share the experience.

Nevertheless many people include a trip down the Pacific Coast Highway on their so called ‘Bucket Lists’.

That being said I don’t do bucket lists.

In fact I have been up and down this highway more than once in the last few years.

To be sure the Pacific Coast Highway never disappoints.

But a planned camping trip threw a wrench into the plans to continue the trip up the full length of the PCH from Santa Barbara.

Even though I put a lot of time into maps and planning some happy accidents made a huge difference in the star crossed nature of this trip.

Accordingly getting lost and finding campgrounds that were deserted and free completely by accident made this trip one for the books.

Correspondingly finding backroads and mountain roads with incomparable views was a feature.

With this in mind I don’t know if I could tell listeners and subscribers just how I got to a place.

Given these points it’s really all about getting there and now how.

To put it differently many lessons on the road often turn out to be great life lessons too.

By all means its important to hold space for those happy accidents that lead to the sublime.

Overall many listening to Perfect-Pacific-Vibe-Bob Davis Podcast 1160 who have been traveling themselves for any length of time will identify with this idea.

Especially since time and again I found myself in a campground or circumstance that literally took my breath away.

Finally people often ask me why I wanted to spend so much time in California this year.

Basically California is one of the most unique places in the US and maybe even the world.

Obviously and certainly it’s expensive and Golden Staters themselves think it’s weird.

But all things considered this is still one of the the best road trips I have been on.
