One of the books I read before becoming a Mason was Born In Blood by John J. Robinson.

It is 344 pages long with an appendix.

Was it worth the read? Hell yes, and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting to get a handle on the theory that Freemasonry is the direct ancestor of the Knights Templar.

A book this size (25 chapters) will cover much and the author's style is engaging, I was not bored because I had never read anything like this.
