WELCOME BACK TO THE BOOKSHELF.
Season 6, we are here, and this season it is ALL ABOUT the LIBRARY!!! That is right, every book covered this season will be a choice from my local library. This season I want to encourage all to remember that our local libraries are necessary resources we need to protect. So whether you are disciplining your book buying, wanting to step outside your comfort zone, or whatever it may be, remember that your library is there, and this season I hope to remind you all of that!

Todays Episode: 
On our trip to the library, I was able to snag one of my holds and I am covering A HORROR Book titled : Jackal By Erin E. Adams
Let me tell you this story was a horror book through and through! From the amount of racism, trauma and the constant looking over your shoulder, I was terrified the entirety of the story. You want more details? Well make sure you listen in and hear all that I have to say!

IT IS FINALLY THE END!.. Lol of Season Five of course. 
We have made it to the end of this season, and boy have we held ourselves accountable. This last episode covers the end of the Curse of Saints Trilogy. That is right, we address the second and third books along with the trilogy as a whole. Now from the first book review, did the second and third exceed those expectations? did the trilogy take a downfall? was it a regret? or enjoyable? characters? themes?  All of that and more will be addressed in this finale!!

NOW BEFORE YA'LL GET MAD!.. lol this episode was the ONLY episode that was planned in this chaotic season and it was an episode I knew I needed to do. 
With one more episode after this, this episode goes over the future of The Bookshelf and what is to come. I did not want to add all these logistics for our final episode and I do feel like I owe yall a bit of an explanation for my own personal critiques this season. I appreciate all the support this podcast has brought me and this is NOT the end.. but there is a looming question as to what will be next... This episode is going to cover all that!

Today we visit a new fantasy world and review The Curse of Saints, by Kate Dramis. 
Now, this was the FIRST book to this trilogy, so we are entering new problems, relationships, worlds, etc., and ya girl has some thoughts to share. Was this a great start to a trilogy for us to finish? Are the characters developing? How's the romance? Plot? I go over the story and all that this episode and since we are BACK out of our funk, this episode is one you do not want to miss!

Sometimes it amazes me that we are at episode 14, and I have not covered that many Kindle Books. So this episode I decided to read Blood and Brujas by Mikayla D. Hornedo... lets just say there is more to it than meets the eye, and you dont want to miss what I have to say. Did this meet every expectation I had? You know your girl loves her fantasy, especially with some romantic spice. 

On top of that we also go into a hard copy book and read and review My Soul to Keep by Tananarive Due. A horror story based off a woman and an immortal being. Is it a love story and a romance i just had to read and admit was good, or is there more to this read. Did I need to sleep with a night light or was this another predictable horror story?

I share all my thoughts and more in this episode and you DO NOT want to miss it!

This episode we cover ETERNAL RUIN, by Tigest Girma. If you have not heard our cover on Immortal Dar, I suggest you listen and immerse yourself in that episode before tuning in.. or not.. lol do you. I am SO excited that I got to experience this book and also am happy to share this with you. We have started reviewing this trilogy on the podcast, and in turn we will end it on here too. The journey has been so gratifying and i am so happy share my thoughts, opinions and honest coverage on this book and the story as a whole so far.  We talk about the journey Kidan is on, the AMAZING Susyenos, and just the vampire vibe that is legit the most pleasurable in this story. This episode we cover ALCHEMISED.. now TRIGGER WARNING for this episode as there are dark elements discussed in this episode. Please check your triggers and what this book entails before going forward. Some mentioned include, sexual assault, mutilation, mental and physical abuse. 

We discuss the dark romantic gothic elements, and how that ties into the events that are happening today. The discussion circles around our main characters and how relatable and understanding you become because of how familiar the experiences can be. It is a beautifully, dark written story that pulls on all your emotions, and I express my thoughts on all that. 
TUNE IN, and listen to one of the most emotional challenging books i have read thus far.

This episode, your girl wanted to dedicate to the incredible black authors, and characters that I am most excited to be reading and sharing in future episodes. I know, I know, Eternal Ruin was supposed to be covered, but there is NOT enough episodes to premiere in February to share more than one Black Author, so I wanted to amplify and encourage all of you to not only have these authors and books on your shelf, but to include other black authors and characters as well. I am super excited to be sharing my thoughts and expectations on these books, that this episode comes with the chaos of me tripping over quite a few words and names, so as a disclaimer, I apologize if i mispronounced any. I am just sooo excited to not only have these on my TBR, but to share what drew me to each one. 

I hope that everyday your reading is diverse and especially including black authors as well. It is VERY important to surround yourself with different authors and books and not just one. 

In all I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I enjoyed sharing!
