India’s musical journey was not typical. “Having grown up poor, there was a lot of pressure for me to ‘go to college and make money’ so I convinced myself that music was a hobby”. Ramey, a domestic violence survivor graduated college, got a law degree and became a domestic violence prosecutor. “I thought if I was helping people like my Mom, I would like being a lawyer more”. Despite her love of helping people, Ramey’s love for music won in the end. She gave up her law career to become a full time musician and songwriter and has never looked back. Featured as one of the “Must See Acts at SXSW, a Nashville’s Lighting 100 artist of the week, a three-time Americanafest showcasing artist, and one of NPR’s “10 Nashville Artists on the Rise”, India has only continued to rise among the ranks of as one of Country and Americana’s brightest up and coming, emerging artists. Her second national release , Shallow Graves debuted at number six on the Euro Americana Charts and landed a song as Rolling Stone’s pick of the week. Her new album, Baptized By The Blaze is out August 23, 2024 and is already the number one added album to Amiericana Radio. Billboard says of her performance in her Nashville residency performance, “The rollicking set recalls everyone from Tammy Wynette to Wanda Jackson.” Nashville’s Americana radio station, WMOT says India is the perfect mixture of Loretta Lynn and Neko Case, Rolling Stone describes her as “Part Black Sabbath, part honky-tonk” and the BBC’s Ralph McClean says “India is a singer of the truth, she knows the value of a well-told tale sung with passion and honesty. She is a bright light in the darkness. Over the course of the the next few years he worked on perfecting his songwriter ability and was in constant search for his own distinct and unique sound. Following years of experience playing on numerous stages, he has also as lent his musical talents to many different recordings. He has had several different studio projects of many different styles of music, and has been making a name for himself in the Texas music scene since the early 2000's . The once front man of the Tyler, Tx based alternative- rock band, The Papers, Alford struck out in 2010 to form a acoustic driven group known as The Kid Icarus Project. The band played every party, bar, and restaurant around the east Texas area and even had several appearances at the famed South by Southwest festival in Austin, Tx. The band went on to win best Americana Band at the 2017 East Texas Music Awards. June of 2018 Alford again went searching for different avenues to bring his music to the public. He started playing solo acoustic shows that leaned more into a soul/singer-songwriter style that seemed to fit his vocals perfectly. That same year he put out his 1st solo acoustic live record called Live Off Chilton. Following the success of that record he has released several other EPs and singles that are currently available on all streaming platforms. He is currently playing all over the state of Texas and surrounding states.

#podcast #interview #rossgipson Welcome to Episode 15 featuring Tik Influencer and star, Ross Gipson from Carthage, MOIn this episode we got to talk to Ross about his being a cancer survivor, his songwriting style, his elven story and folk songs, his art, his comedy, his strategy involving Tik Tok and so much more!Courtesy of https://www.reverbnation.com/rossgipsonI wrote my first song when I was eighteen years old. I had been listening to Robert Johnson a lot, and decided to write a blues song. It was called "Society's Blues," and thinking back on it I can safely say it was awful. It didn't matter though. At the time it was good, and it was enough to get me interested in songwriting. Soon after I heard that song I started listening to Bob Dylan and my songwriting really started to grow after that. The years that have followed have seen me grow as an artist. I have discovered new music - Leonard Cohen, Ben Folds, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Dan Bern, Bonnie Prince Billy, The Mountain Goats, to name a few - and I've had a lot of people encouraging me along the way, and I've had a lot of great musicians who I've worked with and played with who have helped to cultivate me as an artist. I continue to grow even now and push myself to be as good as I can be at this.Check out all episodes of "The Boston Chris Podcast" here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRVUGoqJJ6AdL2KbXbyB59e-_AOktJbahChapters:00:00: Theme Song by Adios Fatso00:36: Intro02:58: Passing Imagery by Ross Gipson07:18: What is Ross Drinking?08:09: Ross’ Upbringing & First Musical Memories/Influences11:43: What instruments does he play?13:00: The strategy of his social media content16:34: His music before taking off on Tik Tok19:12: Making Content Creation look easy21:51: Surviving Leukemia24:30: Not sweating the small stuff28:57: His effective use of the Tik Tok Duet feature34:31: Describing his own music35:10: What are Elven Folk Songs?39:46: His process for writing songs46:59: How would his path had been different before the internet?48:53: Why is Tik Tok so good for him?51:26: Who does he think she is?!Support Boston Chris💵Become a Member: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCao6fJOfevnE7dkMYz3vnQQ/join👕Merchandise Store: https://boston-chris-gaming.creator-s...🎧Purchase Hyper X Products: https://hx.hyperx.gg/BG5FiQXA💵Donate to Paypal: https://www.paypal.me/etxrocksFollow Boston Chris► Twitter https://twitter.com/BostonChrisTTV► Instagram https://www.instagram.com/bostonchristtv/► TikTok https://www.tiktok.com/@itsbostonchris► Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/TheBostonChrisShow► Discord https://discord.gg/TkyV9Q2P► Twitch: https://www.twitch.tv/thebostonchrisshow► Other Stuff: https://linktr.ee/bostonchrisCheck out the Podcasts:► The Chris & Kadie Show YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRVUGoqJJ6AfeGd6fbyounJgu3bNCwyOr► The Chris & Kadie Show Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/4UhHqi95KXlVXzoofzLdKz?si=c335a7dd569f4dec► 10 Minutes with Boston Chris YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLRVUGoqJJ6AdL2KbXbyB59e-_AOktJbah► 10 Minutes with Boston Chris Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/5UeR5tgIGsltEMUh0a22h8?si=b10432ece9ec4db0

My family moved around for several years before settling in Nashville, Tennessee when I was 5 years old. I have always loved music, but was intimidated by the sheer number of people I encountered growing up that were NOT succeeding in the music business. So, I went to college, got a degree in Psychology and worked in another career for 10 years. At that point, I decided I had to try to chase my dream of being a professional songwriter. It took several years of writing for free before I landed my first publishing deal with Kim Williams and Sony ATV in Nashville. Several years after that, Rascal Flatts recorded “While You Loved Me” and I had my first top ten single. Another three years went by before Billy Currington, Jason Matthews and I had our first #1 single with “Must Be Doin’ Somethin’ Right”.People often ask me what my favorite song is that I have written. I’m very proud of the six #1 singles. I’m thrilled that several iconic artists have recorded my songs – Joe Cocker, Leon Russell, The Oak Ridge Boys – to name a few. I’m proud of my song “Bounce” knocking Psy out of the #1 spot on the K-Pop chart in Korea and for winning Asian Song of The Year this year. And I’m proud of my Plain White T’s and Saving Jane cuts because they are off the beaten path for a Nashville writer. But my FAVORITE songs have yet to be recorded. Ask me sometime and I’ll play some of them for you.It has been a long, hard journey with considerable costs. But, in the end, it has been worth it. I wake up every day and get to do something I love. You can’t put a price on that.~Marty Dodson
