On September 18, 2012, while doing routine maintenance work on an underwater structure at the Huntington oilfield in the North Sea, Chris Lemons' dive umbilical was severed almost 100 meters down. With his main breathing gas cut off and only about 6 minutes of gas left in his bailout, Lemons soon fell unconscious. Freezing and alone in the dark, things definitely looked grim for Chris.
Despite being in the frigid water without air for around 30 minutes, and for reasons that no one has been able to explain, Chris survived after being rescued by divers Dave Yuasa and Duncan Allcock.
This has been documented in a feature film entitled "Last Breath" and can be found on Netflix.
Chris comes on the podcast to talk about his amazing ordeal and life after the incident. We cover a variety of topics from diving safety, misconceptions about commercial diving, how he dealt with his return to diving, and have a few beers in typical Bottom Dwellers fashion. An episode that you do not want to miss! We had a blast talking with Chris lemons and had an amazing chat with him. I am sure you will hear more from him on future episodes as well!
