What do you wish you knew before starting your business?
In this episode of The Bougie Multipreneur, Dr. Hillary Hushower sits down with Jennifer Foley, owner of Balanced Soul in Indianapolis, whose work includes Reiki and dream mapping, to talk about what she learned after starting her business in 2021.
Jennifer shares why she wishes she hadn't spent so much money on advertising in the beginning, what she does believe was worth investing in, and why paying someone to properly set up her business accounts was money well spent.
She also gets candid about something new entrepreneurs don't always hear: it can take time. For Jennifer, it took about three years to really feel comfortable in her business and begin making consistent money.
We also talk about the importance of having someone in your corner. Jennifer shares how her supportive partner became her biggest cheerleader throughout the process—and why, despite the challenges of building a business, she loves the space she's created and the work she gets to do.
If you're starting a business, growing one, or wondering why you're not "there" yet, this conversation is a reminder that building something sustainable doesn't happen overnight.

What does it actually take to turn a unique business idea into something real?
On this episode of The Bougie Multipreneur, Dr. Hillary Hushower sits down with Megan Schaffer, founder of Crate Escapes in Westfield, Indiana—a dog park and bar that created a place for dogs to play and their people to connect.
Megan shares what happened between having the idea and actually opening the doors.
We talk about the years of research that went into the concept, figuring out whether there was truly a market for something different, finding investors to help bring the vision to life, and navigating the many moving pieces that come with starting a business from scratch.
Megan also shares how Crate Escapes uses social media, events, and community-building to get people through the doors and keep them coming back.
If you've ever had a business idea and wondered, “Okay…but how do I actually make this happen?” this episode gives you a real-world look at what turning an idea into a business can look like.

Are you actually burned out—or are you overwhelmed?
In this episode of The Bougie Multipreneur, Dr. Hillary Hushower sits down with Dr. Rosemary Batanjski for a real conversation about burnout, overwhelm, and why simply pushing harder isn't always the answer.
As Dr. Rose puts it: “You can't hustle your way out of this.”
We talk about how burnout and overwhelm can show up differently, why high-achieving business owners can have such a hard time recognizing when they've reached their limit, and what we can do to help our bodies complete the stress cycle instead of carrying that stress with us day after day.
Rosemary leaves us with three surprisingly simple ways to help move through that cycle:
• Movement
• Laughter
• A 20-second hug every day
We also talk about the realities of entrepreneurship, the pressure to keep going, and why sometimes the answer isn't becoming more productive—it's recognizing what your mind and body actually need.
If you've been telling yourself you just need to work harder, get more organized, or push through it, this conversation is for you.
And of course, we end with a little Bougie Multipreneur fun.
Listen in and then ask yourself: Am I burned out—or am I overwhelmed?

Have you ever lowered your price before someone even asked? Added extra services without charging? Felt guilty about making money from something that comes naturally to you?
Many entrepreneurs discount their expertise because they are afraid of being judged, losing a client, or appearing greedy. But underpricing does not always make your services more accessible. Sometimes it creates resentment, exhaustion, confusion, and a business that cannot continue serving people well.
In this episode of The Boujee Multipreneur, Dr. Hillary Hushower discusses the difference between price and value, why years of experience should not be given away, and how charging appropriately allows you to create better experiences, retain great employees, invest in your business, and help more people.
You will learn how to stop apologizing for your prices, communicate your value more confidently, and recognize when discounting has become a habit rather than a strategy.

If you've ever felt like your business can't function without you, this episode is for you.
Many entrepreneurs build a business around themselves. We become the best employee in our own company. We answer every question, solve every problem, and wear every hat. But eventually, what helped us grow becomes the very thing holding us back.
In today's episode, I share the mindset shift from operator to CEO. We'll talk about delegation, systems, leadership, data, and creating a business that doesn't depend on you being there every minute of every day.
If you're ready to scale without sacrificing your freedom, this episode is for you.

Major life transitions have a way of making us question everything.
Our priorities.
Our goals.
Our relationships.
Even our identity.
In this final episode of the Rebuilding While You're Still Living It series, Dr. Hillary explores one of the most powerful questions we can ask ourselves during seasons of change:
Who am I becoming?
When life doesn't look the way you expected, it's easy to focus on what you've lost. But what if this season isn't just about letting go? What if it's also about discovering a stronger, wiser, more aligned version of yourself?
In this episode, you'll learn:
• Why identity shifts can feel uncomfortable but are often necessary
• How major transitions reveal what matters most
• Why outgrowing old versions of yourself is part of growth
• How to stop defining yourself by past chapters
• The importance of focusing on who you're becoming instead of who you've been
If you're navigating change and wondering what comes next, this episode will encourage you to embrace the person you're growing into rather than focusing solely on what you're leaving behind.

Leadership can be incredibly rewarding, but it can also be surprisingly lonely.
As business owners, parents, entrepreneurs, and leaders, we're often the ones making the decisions, carrying the responsibility, solving the problems, and showing up for everyone else. Yet very few people talk about the emotional weight that comes with being the person others depend on.
In this episode of The Boujee Multipreneur, Dr. Hillary shares the realities of leadership that don't always make it onto social media. From decision fatigue and carrying responsibility to navigating uncertainty while still leading others, this conversation is for anyone who has ever felt alone at the top.
In this episode you'll learn:
• Why leadership can feel isolating even when you're surrounded by people
• The hidden cost of being the decision-maker
• How to recognize decision fatigue before it burns you out
• Why strong leaders still need support
• The importance of building your own circle during difficult seasons
If you've ever felt like everyone comes to you with their problems while you quietly carry your own, this episode is for you.
