The Boxing Source Podcast

The February 4th episode of The Boxing Source Radio Show will focus on the cruiserweight semifinal of the World Boxing Super Series between Murat Gassiev and Yunier Dorticos. This was a good fight and we had an exciting end to it. The winner moves on to the final against Oleksandr Usyk on May 11th in Jeddah Saudi Arabia. An early preview of that fight will be given on this podcast.

Another segment of the show will go over the fight card that was televised on ESPN in Texas. The WBO super middleweight champion Gilberto Ramirez defended his title against Habib Ahmed and Jerwin Ancajas defended his IBF junior bantamweight title against Israel Gonzalez. We'll go over the results and some of the comments after one of these fights.

On this week's podcast, we go over the cruiserweight unification bout between Oleksandr Usyk and Mairis Breidis, Jorge Linares's defense of his lightweight title against Mercito Gesta, and Lucas Matthysse taking on Tera Kiram. A lot to talk about particularly with the cruiserweight title fight as the winner moves on to the World Boxing Super Series finals. Is the winner going to be fully prepared for that fight? Who could be his opponent? We go over that in a segment of the show.

In the tail end of the live podcast and in overtime, the Showtime Sports boxing schedule will be reviewed. What are the fights that the host is looking forward to? What could possibly be a sleeper fight? Who may the host be most disappointed in?

This episode of The Boxing Source Radio Show reviews the card at the Barclays Center. The main event will be discussed plus a few key undercard bouts as there were some notable fighters on the card. What will be in store for the winners and losers in these bouts? Tune in and get the host's take on that.

We will also look ahead to next week's set of fights including the World Boxing Super Series semifinal in the cruiserweight division plus the WBA "regular" title will be on the line on January 27th.

The first show of 2018!

On Saturday, the Barclays Center will host the IBF welterweight title fight between defending champion Errol Spence Jr. and Lamont Peterson. This is sure to be a very good fight between the two as they would like to stake their claim as one of the best fighters in the welterweight division. The co-feature bout will have Robert Easter Jr. defend his lightweight title against Javier Fortuna which could be another good fight on the card.

Other fights that are on the schedule include Mikey Garcia against Sergey Lipinets plus Rances Barthelemy has a rematch with Kiryl Relikh on February 10th, David Benavidez has a rematch with Ronald Gavril, Devon Alexander faces Victor Ortiz, and Danny Garcia takes on Brandon Rios on February 17th, the World Boxing Super Series continues with the semifinals starting on January 27th, and the heavyweight picture clears up a little bit in the month of March.

The last episode of 2017 features an overall review of the biggest events in the sport of boxing going from the heavyweight division on down. Some of the best fights in recent memory happened this year and the host will touch on that. He will give his take on what was the Fight of the Year, the Fighter of the Year, Knockout of the Year, and the Upset of the Year.

In addition to that, a tribute will be given to those that have retired from the sport this year and those that have made it into the International Boxing Hall of Fame. We will also take time to reflect on the lives of boxers and those involved in the sport that transitioned this year.

On this episode of The Boxing Source Radio Show, we look into the WBO middleweight title fight between Billy Joe Saunders and David Lemieux. What happened in the fight and what are the host's thoughts about it? What is next for the winner and loser of this bout?

In another segment we go through some news and notes in the sport as we got some announcements about some bouts coming up in January and February. Two of them are linked in a sense...

This is a PACKED show...Luis Ortiz returned to the ring on Friday night on FS1 and he ended up winning the fight...however, the buzz is about what happened after the fight between him and Deontay Wilder. We will go in depth about this in the first segment of the podcast.

Next, we will go over a bunch of fights that happened on Saturday, starting with the card in England, then the one in Las Vegas, and ending with the card that was in New York City. There were some upsets, and there were some things that made the show host upset. You will hear it all in the following segments.

The main topic for this week's episode of The Boxing Source Radio Show is the decision win for Sadam Ali and what it could mean for the sport. There will be a take on that plus the results of that card including Zachary Ochoa winning over Erick Daniel Martinez, Rey Vargas beating Oscar Negrete, and more.

This week's episode of The Boxing Source Radio Show reviews the three fights that were on HBO's Boxing After Dark that took place at the ballroom in Madison Square Garden, which included Jason Sosa against Yuriorkis Gamboa, Sullivan Barrera vs. Felix Valera, and Sergey Kovalev vs. Vyacheslav Shabranskyy. What are the ramifications for these bouts and what's next for the winners? We go over that in a segment in the show.

We also look ahead to key fights that will take place in the last month of 2017. Miguel Cotto will have his final fight on Saturday in Madison Square Garden, Guillermo Rigondeaux will take on Vasyl Lomachenko in NYC, and Billy Joe Saunders will defend his middleweight title against David Lemieux. 

This week we have a few topics to go over plus a review of a few fights that went down over the weekend including Julian "J-Rock" Williams against Ishe Smith and the Carl Frampton fight that was part of a card that had a couple of world title fights that took place in Belfast.

The big news story is what may have come from Anthony Joshua in his Instagram chat with Eddie Chambers. Did he actually say what is alleged? What ramifications will come of that?

Tyson Fury is working towards coming back to the ring...he is the man that beat the man, but is he completely back in shape?
