This one is a Kick-Off show and tells you all about some of the fun things there are to do at PopCon. Some that many people don’t even know about.

PopCon returns for its 11th year in Indianapolis this coming April 26-28. This is the first of 2 cons this year, the other happening in Louisville at the end of August.

To hype up the upcoming event, I’ve asked owner Carl Doninger to return and tell us what’s all in store and why you should come and be a part of the festivities. With guests like Elijah Wood, Andy Serkis, John Barrowman, Dean Norris and more – this is shaping to be one of the biggest PopCons yet and you definitely don’t want to miss out!

From the kick starter of the Satanic Panic to 2 of the prominent talk show figures of the era, Ed and Lorraine Warren. Now, they weren’t so much involved in the ritualistic abuse side of things, moreso the paranormal/spiritual research. Nonetheless, though they had been around for a few decades prior, their stature lifted in the 80s and became a household name.

This documentary from the Travel Channel was deemed “the true story” though it is without any questioning or skepticism. Presenting everything as real without question. Troy and I look at this, discuss the cases and analyze.

Devil’s Road: The True Story of Ed and Lorraine Warren is streaming on Max.

March will see a couple installments in the Products of the Panic series. First up is a documentary Troy and I have been waiting to go over since its announcement – Satan Wants You. Largely a festival film last year, it dropped on Tubi for mass consumption back in December of 2023.

Satan Wants You tackles the book that was a major spark for the entire Satanic Panic of the 1980s; Michelle Remembers. Now, that’s a title you’ve heard referenced and recapped on this series A LOT. Now, we dive into the full thing and the story of Michelle and her psychiatrist that conjured up this whole nonsense that the media and American public bought into en masse.

I’d been kicking around an idea of a Rom Com run of episodes ever since I met Greg McGoon and he became such a staple here. And I thought, why not bring this horror movie trio with Jesscia on to do some.

Originally planned as one episode, these discussions went very long, so I made each film we covered into its own episode.

We’ve come to the last stop here. Modern Romance. My pick. A deconstructive look at the genre and an almost uncomfortably honest look at jealousy. This is a film that fascinates me and YES, I do consider it in the Rom Com family.

I’d been kicking around an idea of a Rom Com run of episodes ever since I met Greg McGoon and he became such a staple here. And I thought, why not bring this horror movie trio with Jesscia on to do some.

Originally planned as one episode, these discussions went very long, so I made each film we covered into its own episode.

The second installment goes all the way back to the ultimate trendsetter that became a phenomenon and the one with which all would aspire to be – Frank Capra’s It Happened One Night. This original masterpiece was the first film to complete the big sweep of all major categories at the Oscars.

Our first one here is the 2000 film, Return To Me. A well reviewed movie for its time, it doesn’t really get brought back up much anymore…UNTIL NOW! I hope you enjoy these episodes as it was a lot of fun to record them.

Solo episode this week! I’m keeping a tradition I used to write at Why So Blu: alive in the podcast form. I’ve also upgraded the format.

Brandon’s 4K Blu-ray Wishlist is a pondering and argument for titles that I believe should be put on the format during this current year. Some of them are head scratching that they aren’t. Others are personal faves I’d like to see.

Time to look back on 2023. One of my favorite parts of 2023 was meeting Chris Johnson of The Normies and doing some live shows with him at both PopCon events last year. I’ve asked him to join me here as we give our Top 10 lists of the films released this past year.

In addition, we give our thoughts on what the year as a whole meant to film as an art form and in the pop culture spectrum. We give our best “new to me” film picks as well as my honorable mentions and look forward to films being released this year (2024).
