Hours Disappear is the latest album from iOTA. It's ten years since the release of his last album Wolf Number Nine and over 25 years since the ARIA nominated The Hip Bone Connection was released.
Jon Toogood is one of the great frontmen in Rock n Roll. His first band Shihad started when he was teenager and met drummer Tom Larkin and from their thrash metal beginnings they rode the dragon of rock for 37 years. Music was Jon's first love and he gave everything in the quest for global success. The sacrifices were personal and deep but after talking with him over a couple hours I don't think he regrets anything....well not too much.
G’day Folks!

G’day Folks. I was lucky enough to catch up with Pinky Beecroft, you’ll know him from Machine Gun Fellatio back in the naughties.
Contrary to popular belief, Pinky Beecroft, front man for Machine Gun Fellatio, one of Australia’s wildest and most chaotic live bands didn’t disappear into the Arizona Desert though he did spend some time there, he may or may not have gone into hiding in Norway, nor is he dead, because we’re about to have a chat with him about his brand new record called Lonesome Wolf that’s out on August 14.
And btw The Rolling Stones track we’re talking about is Wild Horses…..
Gday Folks, it’s time for Episode four of Grumpy Jukebox.
What do you get if you stick 3 old mates in a virtual studio, one in Melbourne, one in Sydney and one in Brisbane with a bit of time on their hands and nothing better to do than sit around and talk shit, just like they used to but back in the day we were paid for the privilege, now we do it for love. Love of music, love of the new and surprising and love of the banal?
So check out what Francis Leach, Robbie Buck and Costa Zouliou have been listening to, and what the headline in the Sunday Territorian "Why I Put A Screamer Up My Steamer" is referring to.
G’day Folks.
Wanna know what three grumpy old blokes have been listening to over the last couple of weeks? Not just any old grumps, this lot are legends in their own Grumpy Jukebox.
Francis Leach, Robbie Buck and myself have decided to have a yack about new music. Robbie takes us to the world of funk with FAM - Disco Blaxploitation, Francis drops a Dick Move and I’m pretty happy with the new record from Jack White.
Plus we veer off into World Cup Football, Pachichi (me either, you’ll have to listen to find out), the majesty of Kakadu, Crocs, Artificial Intelligence, Clive Palmer (he’s back), Bill Shorten (Robbie had a beer with him) and UFC White House Styleee (a red white and blue disgrace)
Check the-breakdown.net for Grumpy Jukebox Ep 3.
Also available chats with Lontano, Buzz Bidstrup (The Angels), Jeff Martin (The Tea Party), Jim Moginie (Midnight Oil, The Family Dog), William Crighton, Dom Mariani (The Stems, DM3, Datura 4) and a preview of the Necrosonic Festival with Kent Haines and Chris Rand (Segression).
Gday Folks. Here is episode 2 of Grumpy Jukebox. Francis Leach and I are joined by Robbie Buck. We talk new music, Little Simz, Ngaiire and Blackwater Holylight as well as the perils of shrinkage during a winter solstice swim and oh Iggy you have a biggie. All that and more on Grumpy Jukebox, you never know what might be playing.....
Lontano is an Italian term meaning "far away". It's also the name of a long-distance collaboration between songwriters Anthony Dettori and Roz Pappalardo, who share Italian-Australian heritage and a love of spacious, earthy, alt-country storytelling.
Lontano's approach melds different perspectives to unearth surprising new musical narratives, not completely autobiographical, but not fictional either - and always tethered to a shared insight about the physics of the human condition. And it's proving to be a highly productive partnership, with two successful albums and an unexpected recent QMA win under their belt.
On this episode of The Breakdown, ahead of the launch of Lontano's third album 'Love without hard lines' (June 20 at The Cave Inn), I catch up with Anthony and Roz, to find out how it all began, how it works, and what the future holds...
Gday Costa Zouliou here with you and I have a new addition to the-breakdown.net. I've collaborated with my good mate Francis Leach to have a bit of a yack about new music, fashion, books, festivals, gigs or whatever has come across our ears and eyes over the last few weeks.
What's new?
What's surprised us?
WTF?
This is the pilot, so we hope you enjoy it.
Necrosonic Festival 2026 - Well it's back and it's bigger and darker than ever. Costa Zouliou talks to Kent Haines, promoter of the Necrosonic Festival that happens in Brisbane on Saturday August 22 with headliners Rivers of Nihil from the U.S. and Tasmania's Psycroptic. If that's not enough Segression are back from the dead and Chris Rand from the band tells us what it's like to back and heading off on tour.
