Beer Drinking is ultimately what we do, and why we started the podcast and our Brewery Adventures page.
When we see other people like us, who have turned their passion for craft beer drinking into something more, we have a huge appreciation for that - and that's why we wanted to have Matt and Ryan from Cincy Brew Dads on with us.
Matt and Ryan are the definitions of true craft beer drinkers, and they have turned their own love of it into a YouTube channel and Instagram page called Cincy Brew Dads.
Not only do they review beers on both platforms, but they visit and record episodes from breweries, events and their front porches.
In this episode we get to talk to the guys on Ryan's front porch and we learn about where their craft beer journeys started, how did a blown down fence lead to them meeting each other, and when and why did they decide to start Cincy Brew Dads?
The content they are putting out is excellent, it's well thought out, descriptive and is very high quality.
These are the types of guys you want to go hang out with and share beers with, and that's exactly what we're going to be doing in the near future.
Keep up the good work guys!
Go check out all of Cincy Brew Dads' content and reach out to them, we're sure they'll appreciate that.
Cheers!
What happens when a corporate career, a love for craft beer, and a desire to give back to the community all collide? You get Mr. Brews Taphouse in Smyrna & Murfreesboro.
In this collab episode with Mitch & Rich of The Foamy Heads, we sit down with Marty & Mindy Bell, the family behind Mr. Brews, to talk about how they built a family-friendly restaurant with 30+ rotating taps, why they chose Tennessee for expansion, and what it really takes to run a craft beer-focused business.
From Great Lakes Brewing Co. hitting Tennessee to rare pours like Bourbon County variants on draft, we get into how Marty selects beers , plus the balance between craft beer nerd culture and running a full restaurant.
We also dive into the transition from corporate life to owning a taphouse, building out locations from the ground up, why Rutherford County was underserved for craft beer, and running a true family business.
Events, tap takeovers, keeping the beer list fresh, bringing unique, hard-to-find beers to local drinkers, and the love/hate relationship with Untappd, are other topics we talk about during this episode.
We had a great time talking to Marty and Mindi and learned a lot about their journey to Mr. Brews.
We hope you enjoy the episode and even more-so, we hope you go visit them at either or both of their locations.
Additionally, after our conversation with Marty and Mindi ended, we had a couple of friends join us on the mics, who were already in the building.
Shane and Ryan joined us for to share some beers, talk a little beer and just hand out for a bit - for some additional bonus content.
Cheers!
Beer-Clean Glass Day is Saturday, April 25, 2026. Our buddy, Michael Williams from Great Lakes Brewing Company in Cleveland, Ohio joins us to talk all about it.
Does the glass you drink your beer from really make a difference? Absolutely—and in this episode of The Brewery Underground Podcast, we find out why.
Steve and Scott are joined by returning guest Michael Williams of Great Lakes Brewing Company, an Advanced Cicerone, for a deep dive into proper beer glassware, beer pouring techniques, aroma, foam, temperature, and beer-clean glassware.
Michael breaks down how the shape and style of a beer glass can affect aroma, flavor, carbonation, head retention, temperature, and the overall drinking experience. We explore several different types of beer glasses, including shaker pints, nonic pints, snifters, tulip glasses, wheat beer glasses, Kölsch stanges, lager mugs, Czech-style glassware, and more—and discuss which beer styles work best in each.
We also demonstrate the proper way to pour a beer, including why that one-to-two-finger head of foam isn't something to avoid. Foam plays an important role in releasing and concentrating a beer's aromatics, helping you experience more of what the brewer intended.
Then we get into something every craft beer drinker should know: the difference between a glass that's simply clean and one that's truly “beer clean.” Michael explains how oils, soap residue, dust, and other contaminants can destroy head retention, create unwanted nucleation points, and negatively affect the aroma, flavor, and presentation of your beer.
Along the way, we talk about the Cicerone Certification Program, Michael's journey to becoming an Advanced Cicerone, Great Lakes Brewing Company's beer education efforts, proper beer service, and—of course—Great Lakes finally making its way into Tennessee.
Whether you're a craft beer enthusiast, homebrewer, bartender, brewery professional, Cicerone candidate, or simply someone who wants their next beer to taste a little better, this episode will change the way you look at the glass you're drinking from.
🍺 Topics include:
• Proper beer glassware and why it matters
• Choosing the right glass for different beer styles
• Shaker pint vs. nonic pint
• Snifters, tulips, wheat beer glasses and Kölsch stanges
• Czech lager glassware and side-pull pours
• The proper way to pour a beer
• Why beer foam and head retention matter
• How glass shape affects beer aroma and flavor
• Proper beer serving temperature
• What makes a glass “beer clean”
• Cleaning and caring for beer glasses
• Cicerone certification and beer education
• Great Lakes Brewing Company and craft beer in Tennessee
Grab your favorite beer, find the proper glass, and join us underground.
Cheers!
We enjoyed doing this episode in 2025 and wanted to share it again.
This podcast episode is from Garden Groove Recording Space in East Nashville.
It was our pleasure to interview Singer/Songwriter Tyler Boone. He currently has a new single out (Put the Hurt on Me), one of the many songs he's recorded over the years. Having opened for recording artists like Sheryl Crow and Hootie & The Blowfish, music has been a big part of his life for a while.
Music isn't his only passion! Boone's Beer is his very first craft beer, recently released. What's the story behind the beer? Is there more to come? Where can you find it? All the things we asked.
In addition, Boone's Bourbon has been making a statement for many years. The award-winning brand has a big following, and we can attest firsthand, it is pretty freaking good.
Tyler is very down-to-earth! We had so much to talk about. He carved out more time as we all sat around having some fantastic craft beer and bourbon.
Cheers!
We're extremely excited and proud to bring you this episode with Erin Wallace and Georgina Solis (Georgie) from Pink Boots Society.
Erin is the Board President and Georgina is the Executive Director of Pink Boots Society and we're very honored that they joined us.
Pink Boots Society aims to assist, inspire and encourage women and non-binary individuals in the fermented/alcoholic beverage industry to advance their careers through education.
Teri Fahrendorf founded Pink Boots in 2007 and originally started it as a network of women brewers helping each other.
It has since grown and evolved and become an international society in over 50 countries.
Teri has also recently been inducted into the American Craft Brewers Hall of Fame. Congratulations Teri!
Both Erin and Georgie were scholarship recipients themselves through Pink Boots Society and have furthered their careers in craft beer because of it.
They both also started Pink Boots Chapters in their own cities and they discuss what it took to get them started and how they grew.
We really had a great conversation with these 2 ladies and had lot of fun and learned so much from them.
Pink Boots Society is in wonderful hands with these 2 ladies, in addition to many others.
We have no doubt that the future of Pink Boots Society is bright, and we look forward to following their journey for years to come.
Cheers!
Boiling Springs, South Carolina is the home of New Groove Artisan Brewery. Co-Owners, Jonathan Duke and Josh Dodson joined on this episode, as did our good friend, Chris Finen.
Chris and Jonathan go back a number of years. He paid to a visit to the Brewery in 2025, and was so impressed, encouraged us to do an episode.
These guys opened the Brewery in 2017. What sparked their interest in this venture and how has their business evolved over the past nine years? Including
New Groove has what they call the "Masterworks Bottle Society". You just might get hooked to being a member once hearing about it.
In addition to his duties as Co-Owner, Jonathon also brews the good stuff. From Pastry Stouts to great tasting Lagers. They leave no stone unturned. You want variety, come to New Groove.
Craft Beer is not the only thing New Groove is known for. Josh Dodson likes to focus on the food aspect of things. He calls himself the CBO (Chief Burger Officer)
We had a lot of fun getting to know these guys and you will to.
Cheers!
Cabin Fever was a Beer Fest in Murfreesboro, TN that Cedar Glade Brews put on in February 2026, and was appropriately named.
This was their inaugural Cabin Fever event and it turned out perfectly.
This was an amazing day! The weather was great, we were hanging with our homies the Foamies (The Foamy Heads), and there was an All-Star cast of people from the local beer scene, all around us.
We may have explored the beer fest to sample several beers before we hit the mics - including some fantastic ones from some home brewers.
We did find some time to actually hit the record button and talk to some awesome people in many facets of the beer community.
I think our plan was to come back after we recorded this and record some more, but drinking the beer and socializing with everyone there was just too hard to pull away from.
Nevertheless, we spoke to some absolute legends in the business that we're all fans of, and got to meet some new people for the first time - which was fantastic.
Enjoy the episode and be in awe of the lineup of guests that joined us - one right after the other.
We couldn't possibly have had more fun than we did with seeing and chatting with several of our friends in and out of the craft beer world.
Cheers!

This one is a year old but 'Tis the season. Apparently Spotify didn't think we needed video of this one anymore and they converted it to audio only. We'll circle back on that.
We're always looking for a reason to drink craft beer and since it's close to St. Patrick's Day - that gave us a reason to do just that and record it.
Steve and Scott discuss a couple of recent trips they just came back from. Our good buddies Chris Finen and Michael Stokes join us to talk about some of our favorite Irish Red Ales and Irish Stouts, plus Steve breaks out a very festive hat that you'll want to see the video of.
There is plenty of Guinness conversation including fun facts, our opinions of Guinness, examples of other Irish beers, and a few terrible limericks.
We closeout the episode with a shoutout to 321 For Life and Troegs Independent Brewing for their upcoming Celebration of World Down Syndrome Day on 3/21/25.
There is even a little bonus clip after the episode with Scott Mertie, of Nashville Brewing Company, giving us the origin of St. Patrick's Day.
Sit back, crack your favorite Irish beer or whiskey and enjoy!
Cheers!
We wanted to share this audio clip from May of 2024 and from Episode 17, where Scott Mertie from Nashville Brewing Company gives us the history of St. Patrick's Day. (We weren't utilizing video back then)
We actually recorded Episodes 16 and 17 in person with Scott Mertie on St. Patrick's Day in 2024 at Blackstone Brewing Company / Nashville Brewing Company.
We love Scott Mertie and we always appreciate his wealth of knowledge he shares with us.
Happy St. Patrick's Day.
Cheers!
