The news just keeps getting better 
No, there’s not any sarcasm behind that statement. And yes, taken at face value when juxtaposed to many of the headlines out there coming out the weekend.

Right, so last week what played out in Venezuela is a microcosm of how so-called experts/analysts continue to get it wrong when it comes to the meaningful impact of President Trump’s policies. A week ago, fears of the U.S. being at war with Venezuela, transition uncertainly and concerns of an oil production collapse that would surely lead to higher prices over the near-term, were to be found with most GSS news reports.

Stocks have continued to outperform to start the year. This past week’s first full week of trading produced more gains, fresh record highs to finish the week for the major indexes and increased optimism about the economy this year.

What’s working? All of it. What’s all of it? Trump’s economic policy. Trump’s foreign policy. Trump’s illegal immigration crackdown. All of it. Let me start on the economic side.

Any specific outcomes would be speculative but for example I could see various possibles including the Supreme Court allowing for the President’s use of reciprocal tariffs. This has been done by presidents throughout history including Trump in his first term without issue. You might recall that Trump’s “Liberation Day” tariffs were said to be reciprocal, however in reality were across the board for all countries – regardless of if we had a trade surplus or deficit and even for countries that didn’t or now don’t impose tariffs on U.S. goods. If I were a betting person, I’m not, but if I were something along those lines is what I would bet on. Something that would likely strike down most of the tariffs as currently constructed, but leave open the door for adjustments. We shall soon see.
