  • 18. Can Pilgrimage Teach Us to Need Less and Live More Fully? (Part 1 with Jeff Mount)

What if the most important journey is the one that brings you back to yourself?

On this episode of The Brian Turner Show, Brian sits down with Jeff Mount for part one of a two-part conversation about pilgrimage, purpose, success, and what it means to live a wealthy life.

Jeff is a life coach, leadership mentor, longtime self-defense instructor, and author of Seeking Thin Places: How Sacred Travel Heals, Awakens, and Restores the Soul. The common thread in each chapter of his life has been a fascination with what allows people to become more fully themselves.

Together, Brian and Jeff explore the role of play, the difference between performance and authenticity, and why some of the most important work we do happens in the privacy of our own hearts. Jeff reflects on how pilgrimage evolved from a way to escape pressure into an intentional practice of surrender, one designed not simply to show us something new, but to allow a place and a journey to change us.

Plus, what happens when travel becomes another form of consumption, why possessions can create only the appearance of security, and how success itself can become costly when it is built through relentless self-criticism.

This episode is a reminder that living a wealthy life may require more than achieving, acquiring, or arriving somewhere new. Sometimes it begins by stepping away from the noise long enough to discover who you are, what truly matters, and what you are here to offer.

  • 17. Everything Is For Us, But Nothing Is Ours (Part 2 with Dr. Rod Birney)

What if wealth is not something we possess, but something that moves through us?

On this episode of The Brian Turner Show, Brian continues his conversation with Dr. Rod Birney about money, spirituality, giving, and what it means to live a wealthy life.

Building on the first part of the conversation’s exploration of money, scarcity, family, and the nervous system, this second part turns toward the deeper spaces beneath our behavior around money. Brian and Dr. Birney explore the emptiness people often try to fill with possessions, the practice of bringing mindfulness to our financial lives, and how money can become a trailhead into the parts of ourselves that are afraid, guarded, hungry, or longing for care.

Drawing from his work as a psychiatrist, as well as his grounding in psychology, meditation, and spiritual practice, Dr. Birney reflects on money as a form of life energy. Together, he and Brian discuss reciprocity, giving, receiving, and the idea that wealth becomes distorted when it is hoarded rather than allowed to move in relationship with others.

The conversation also turns toward technology, AI, generosity, the daily practice of noticing moments of happiness, and reminds us that wealth is not status, accumulation, or ownership, but an incredible fullness of life inside and around us...something that would remain even if everything else was lost.

    • 16. Why Are We So Afraid to Talk About Money? (Part 1 with Dr. Rod Birney)

Why is money so difficult to talk about?

On this episode of The Brian Turner Show, Brian sits down with Dr. Rod Birney for part one of a two-part conversation about money, scarcity, family, the body, and what it means to live a wealthy life.

Dr. Birney is a physician, psychiatrist, and longtime friend whose work brings together medicine, psychology, spirituality, and the deeper questions that shape how we live. Together, he and Brian explore why conversations about money can feel so uncomfortable, and why those feelings often begin long before we ever talk about finances directly.

Drawing from his background in psychiatry, Dr. Birney explains how money can activate threat responses, self-worth, childhood conditioning, social comparison, family dynamics, and spiritual tension. The conversation also turns toward his own life, including the lessons he inherited from his parents, the power of knowing when you have enough, and how childhood asthma led him toward medicine, meditation, breathwork, and the mind-body connection.

From family money messages and emotional resistance to no debt, living within your means, and defining enough, this episode asks us to notice what money brings up in the body, the mind, and the soul.

It is a reminder that wealth is never only about what we have. It is also about what we fear, what we inherit, what we learn to name, and what helps us feel grounded enough to live freely.

      • 15. Is Your Wealth Serving a Greater Purpose?

What is the purpose of wealth if we never decide what we want it to accomplish?

On this episode of The Brian Turner Show, Brian sits down with Jay Nwachu, President & CEO of Innovation Works and Ignite Capital, for a conversation about community, purpose, and entrepreneurship.

Born in Nigeria and arriving in the United States at age 12, Jay reflects on the experiences that shaped his understanding of responsibility and success. From his father’s steady work as an accountant to his mother’s self-owned beauty salon, he grew up with the belief that taking care of yourself and serving the people around you do not have to be competing goals.

That philosophy now shapes how Jay thinks about wealth and what it means to use it in service of something greater. His work centers on supporting mission-driven entrepreneurs and helping build businesses that create jobs and opportunities in Baltimore.

Together, he and Brian explore the tension between individual prosperity and community wealth, the responsibility that can accompany inherited resources, and the danger of pursuing money without first understanding its purpose.

This episode is a reminder that accumulating wealth is not the end. The deeper question is how we use it to make meaningful choices, what we choose to do with the opportunities it creates, and how legacy impacts the people we leave behind.

      • 14. Are You Making “Wealthcare” a Priority?

What if caring for your wealth also means caring for your whole life?

On this episode of The Brian Turner Show, Brian sits down with Dr. Sankari Sivasailam for a thoughtful conversation about health, money, family, balance, and what it means to live well.

Raised in India before building a life and medical career in the United States, Sankari reflects on the values that shaped her path, from her father’s dream of having a child become a physician to the financial lessons she learned from watching her parents live with discipline, generosity, and care.

As an oncologist and hematologist, Sankari has spent her career walking with patients through some of life’s most difficult moments. That experience shaped her belief that medicine is not only about treating disease, but about understanding the whole person. Together, she and Brian explore the connection between health and wealth, including why security, prevention, partnership, and community all play a role in living well.

The conversation moves from arranged marriage and immigration to financial stability, family support, women’s health, integrative wellness, and the challenge of knowing when to slow down. Sankari shares why balance is not a perfect state we achieve, but a center we learn to return to as life pulls us in different directions.

This episode is a reminder that a wealthy life is not built through numbers alone. It is built through health, relationships, purpose, stability, and the daily choices that help us care for the life we are trying to live.

      • 13. What If the Gold Is Already in You?

What if the greatest wealth is not something you acquire, but something you help someone discover within themselves?

On this episode of The Brian Turner Show, Brian sits down with Pastor Bill Brockett for a wide-ranging conversation about faith, education, entrepreneurship, stewardship, and the values that shape a wealthy life.

Born during the Great Depression and raised in Brooklyn, Pastor Bill grew up in a home where money was hard to come by, work was expected, and lessons were often taught by example. From hauling wood as a child to working in foundries, shipyards, brick yards, and soda trucks, he learned early that nothing worthwhile comes easily.

Over the course of his life, Pastor Bill became a minister, a corporate executive, an owner of McDonald’s franchises, a business founder, and now, in his 90s, an entrepreneur still building for the future. His current mission, EdYouNet, is focused on helping underserved young people gain confidence, values, and educational tools that can change the trajectory of their lives.

Together, Brian and Pastor Bill explore what money is for, why stewardship matters, how values shape sustainability, and why education can become a launching pad for possibility. Along the way, Pastor Bill shares the lessons his father taught him, the danger of confusing possessions with purpose, and the enduring belief that “the gold” is not outside of us. It is already within.

      • 12. How Do You Carry a Legacy With Grace?

What does it mean to care for what has been entrusted to you?
On this episode of The Brian Turner Show, Brian sits down with Helene Harbom for a thoughtful conversation about family, legacy, stewardship, and what it means to live a wealthy life with humility and grace.
Born and raised in Denmark, Helene reflects on a childhood shaped by close family, curiosity, humor, and a deep appreciation for seeing how other people live. From her father’s stories at the harbor to an extraordinary aunt who introduced her to medicine, travel, culture, and care, Helene traces the early influences that shaped her perspective on life.
The conversation follows Helene from Denmark to America, from marriage and motherhood to the responsibility of becoming a steward of a family legacy. In the wake of profound personal loss, Helene found herself learning how to protect what had been built, support the people she loves, and carry forward a legacy she does not see as simply her own.
But this is also a conversation about living fully. About staying curious. About the richness of family, nature, memory, travel, humor, and kindness. Through it all, Helene offers a powerful reminder that wealth is not only what we inherit or preserve. It is also how we live with what has been placed in our care.

      • 11. What If Life's Greatest Riches Cannot Be Counted?

What if the most valuable parts of life never appear on a balance sheet?

On this episode of The Brian Turner Show, Brian sits down with retired communications director and longtime friend Donna Mennitto for a thoughtful conversation about the stories that shape us, the experiences that influence our relationship with money, and the deeper meaning of a wealthy life.

Drawing from a lifetime of work in public service, education, communications, and community leadership, Donna reflects on the lessons she's learned about purpose, loss, family, and the passage of time. Together, she and Brian explore how our earliest experiences influence our financial decisions, why adversity often becomes a source of wisdom, and what it means to have "enough."

From inherited values and generational perspectives to mortality, freedom, and the importance of being truly seen, this conversation moves far beyond dollars and cents. Donna offers a refreshing reminder that while money can create security and opportunity, life's greatest riches are often found in the relationships we build, the perspectives we gain, and the meaning we create along the way.

This episode is an invitation to reflect on what truly matters and whether the most important measures of a life can ever be counted.

      • 10. Can the People You Lift Up Become Your Greatest Legacy?

Adversity does not define your life. It reveals what matters most.

On this episode of The Brian Turner Show, Brian sits down with attorney, business advisor, and longtime basketball coach Brian “Coach” Sheahan to discuss the experiences that shaped his understanding of leadership, faith, and service.

Drawing on nearly five decades of coaching and a distinguished legal career helping business owners plan for the future, Coach shares the lessons that have shaped his approach to success. From a career-ending heart condition as a Division I athlete, to unexpected family challenges, and profound personal loss, he reflects on how life’s most difficult moments can deepen perspective and strengthen purpose.

Plus, Brian and Coach explore mentorship, financial stewardship, servant leadership, and the importance of investing in the people around us. Through stories of family, coaching, business, and faith, Coach reveals why some of life’s greatest returns come not from what we accumulate, but from what we contribute.

This conversation is a reminder that a wealthy life is measured not only by what you build, but by the impact you have on the people you serve.

      • 9. What If Peace Is the Real Measure of Wealth?

Money is not the be-all and end-all; it’s simply a means to an end.

On this episode of The Brian Turner Show, Brian sits down with attorney Drew Phillips for an introspective conversation about saving, self-reliance, and the quiet values that make for an impressive life.

Drew shares how homeownership in her family stretched across generations, which gave her an early understanding of stability and responsibility, as did watching her parents live modestly while investing in education and opportunity.

Her story isn’t only about financial prudence; Drew opens up about the challenges of growing up in predominantly white spaces as a Black woman and learning to navigate differences. She shares how these experiences developed her confidence in knowing she could build a life defined not by status, but by competence and purpose.

This conversation is a reminder that a wealthy life is not measured by what you display or how much more you have than others, but about having enough to live with freedom, dignity, and peace.
