The Bricked Pit

We don't have time to mess around. We've only got 45 more minutes before we lose the light. You only get one take, so don't screw up your lines. Don't worry about the camera. It's just going to be on sticks. We can't afford to move it. That's how it is when you're working on a small budget. Don't worry, this movie will be big despite not having a blockbuster budget. You know why? Because this movie's got something that connects to the public, it's got heart. You don't believe me? Ask the guys from the Bricked Pit. They know about movies like My Big Fat Greek Wedding, Moon, Mad Max, Rocky, Monty Python & the Holy Grail, Pulp Fiction, and Napoleon Dynamite.

Adam steps in this week and explains why trying to talk about statistics on a podcast is a terrible idea.

What we gots here is the old cattle barons, gunslingers, and all sorts of rough and tumble folks who helped tame the wild land west of the Mississippi coming up against all the greenhorns from back east coming in with their fences, locomotive trains, and laws with them. Jason, Adam, and Josh talk about when civilization proper begins to encroach on the Wild West of open ranges and gun duels. Listen to the cowpokes sing the ballads of such films as The Wild Bunch, The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Open Range, Shane, No Country for Old Men, Unforgiven, Giant, and the Young Guns films. 

Time to get up, scumbags! We've got a five mile hike followed by rifle training and then another five mile hike! It's my job to get you wimps prepared for discussing the modern World War II movie! There will be talk of post 1990 films about the greatest war in human history such as The Tuskegee Airmen, Band of Brothers, Greyhound, The Pacific, Enemy at the Gates, Dunkirk, and of course Saving Private Ryan amongst others! What are you smiling at, scuzzball?! Where are you from?! The Internet?! There's only two things that comes from the Internet! That's podcasts and cat videos; and I don't see no whiskers on you, boy! NOW DROP AND GIVE ME TWENTY!!!

Put on your too tight jeans, do up that hair, and get ready to rock! In your living room! The guys go back to the documentary genre for a little slice of the concert film. What separates these movies from other documentaries? Are they their own art form? Did you just take the brown acid? Oh my god! Keep calm! Take deep breaths, and listen to the guys bring you down by talking about Monterey Pop, The Last Waltz, Depeche Mode 101, Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii, Stop Making Sense, Amazing Grace, and Neil Young in Berlin. Josh may have been deceptive in the editing by including audio of songs not recorded during the Berlin performance for this episode.

Josh is out again this week for... reasons. Jason steps in again for a short, not so hateful episode on how Disney is getting lazy.

It's late. The kids have gone to bed. You have the living room to yourselves. The lights are low. You still have a box of wine left. You know what's it time for. That's right. Time to watch some cartoons! We're not talking about that Disney BS with dancing mice. No, the mice here only do the dance of death as they gnaw off people's faces. The guys discuss animated films that are made for more mature audiences... well... at least age wise. Jason, Adam, and Josh talk about cartoons dealing with more adult themes that sometimes have curse words, graphic violence, drug and/or alcohol use, and maybe even some nudity. Join them as they discuss filmmakers such as Ralph Bakshi and Hayao Miyazaki. They talk about such films as Heavy Metal, Akira, Ghost in the Shell, Fantastic Planet, and A Scanner Darkly while also discussing the importance of TV animation like The Simpsons, The Adult Swim lineup, and Archer among others.
