In some way, we all want to be remembered after we're gone. But in today's message, we learn instead the importance of leaving a legacy, and how that goes much deeper than just our name being remembered.

God is actively pursuing a relationship with us, and entering into that relationship on our side involves intentionality. But oftentimes we just "flirt" with wanting to go deeper in that relationship with the Lord, and end up riding the fence. At Christmas time, we seldom long for "practical" gifts. We want something big and impractical! Oftentimes we look at the birth of Jesus in that way, for although the gift of his birth was absolutely necessary for our salvation, we can have a tendency to think of it as merely "practical" and miss out on the magnitude of this wonderful gift.
