In this introduction I explore how this series came about a few years ago and how, now, I feel a burden from the Lord to be a voice championing the call to what I call, deliberate communion. This is the intentional and radical pursuit of daily engagement with God in prayer, word and worship in the Word; perhaps the psalms. Many are content and or have problems with the doctrine of the Trinity. Yet, the Apostle Paul assumed that God was to be viewed as One God, in Three persons because salvation necessitated it. Some, still, erroneously hold to the heresy modalism – expressed in the Jehovah Witnesses and, also, packaged today as Oneness Pentecostalism. Yet, such views are heretical because they undermine the God of the Bible and, instead, create a false God. One need only to understand that, if the Bible calls God Father, and says that He has been such from all eternity, this necessitates that He had a son. Since God cannot change, He had to have been Father all the time because the idea of becoming a Father, creates a problem with the Incomprehensibility of God. Listen to this teaching and be encouraged by the beauty of the redemptive work of the Triune Lord for you.

In this episode we continue to explore the gospel. Not simply the proposition of the gospel but the implications of what it means to believe it and the consequences when we get it wrong.

Many challenges confront the church but none are greater than the challenge to understand and believe the “old” gospel. The church must begin (return) to thinking deeply about the faith. At the heart of it is the centrality of the gospel about Christ- His Person and Work.

If we get it right we will experience a union with the cross of Christ. If we get it wrong, the world will love us and our lives and loves will not be distinct from those who hate Christ.

Nothing matters more than the gospel! No thing and No one. When we grasp this by faith we not only understand why Christ is to be adored but we also see how anything that runs counter to the gospel is offensive to the Lord.

Thus, if we are to be unified we must practice and live in the realities of the gospel. We must have gospel shaped and gospel centered affections and desires. 

Racial and relational unity are mere by products of being rooted, grounded and built up in this redemptive historical- compared work of Christ.
