Jesus created a space of belonging for a high ranking Pharisee. A person from the same group that was constantly calling into question his legitimacy as a Rabbi. A person from the same group that saw God as an angry condemner of mankind. A person from the same group that believed working your way to God through the Temple system was the only real way.
