The church is equipped and called to contend with the forces of darkness in this world as citizens of the light. We are not here to ignore the darkness, placate the darkness, or hide from the darkness. We are called to contend with the forces of darkness in this world for the sake of the world.

Sometimes it’s easy to identify strongholds in our culture, but God cares deeply about our families. He wants to address the strongholds in our families before he uses us to contend against the strongholds in our culture. It always begins with our house (individual house, church house). Once He leads us, He can use us to lead others.

As we advance forward in our faith to contend against the forces of darkness we will encounter enemy strongholds. These are places with entrenched ideologies and attitudes that oppose the truth about God or his way of life. These strongholds are protected by intimidation, fear of retribution, social pressure (ostracizing or acceptance), reward for compliance (promotion). As we learn to contend strongholds will fall.

This series called “Contend” is intended to teach about the authoritative responsibility we have to stand against the darkness in prayer. When we contend in prayer: people are freed, strongholds are demolished, and strategies are thwarted!

The church is referred to as the community of faith. We are truly intended to be a community or family that encourages and stokes the fires of our faith in each other.

This series called “Ask” is intended to teach about the privileged access we have to heavenly resource. It’s intended to raise our faith and confidence access the blessing and help God so desire to give.
