Every week people walk through the doors of The Bridge wondering things like: Do I really matter to anyone? Does God care about me? Will these people accept me? Is there any hope for me? Our hope and prayer is that they leave believing they are loved, that they matter to us and to God, and that God has a life of hope planned for them. The biggest reason they leave believing these things is because we have a church filled with people that say—“It’s not about me and I’m willing to serve others and be used by God to play some small role in people experiencing life-change!” How about you? It’s your serve!

In life, what we see on the outside doesn't always match up with what's happening on the inside. How do we find purpose in these frustrations? And how can God use us in spite of our misguided priorities?

Sometimes we get so caught up thinking about where we'd rather be and what we'd rather be doing, that we forget all the places God has already been with us. But there is a way we can experience God's presence wherever we are, wherever we go.

Each year, we observe Memorial Day on the last Monday of May and we remember the men and women that have given their lives to provide us with the freedoms we have. But is there any way to honor them? Death to Selfie and finding ways to pay it forward through acts of kindness might be ways to honor the fallen.

Everyone believes that if they made just a little more money, then things would be great! Rarely do we think about how that line of reasoning plays into our selfie mentality. The reality is that greed comes in many shapes and sizes and will kill the work that God wants to do in and through you. Greed is the ultimate opposition to “It’s not about Me!” One of the great paradoxes of Scripture is—We Gain as We Give! The only true way to live a blessed life is by learning to give a percentage of our income back to God.

Just because the Bible says God works all things together for our good, does not mean everything feels good all the time. But even though there are circumstances in our lives we didn't choose to go through, God has given us the rights to call any circumstance a blessing in His name.

Moms are the perfect picture of the phrase: It’s not about Me! They serve tirelessly and many times, thanklessly. When a lady makes the choice to be a mom, she has, by default, decided “Death to Selfie!” Have you thanked your mom recently for all that she has sacrificed to give you the life you have today? Gratitude is one of the greatest characteristics of a person that has put to death selfie.

What do you do when: a coworker steals your idea and is compensated for his/her creativity; a friend passes onto others something personal that you shared with them in confidence; as a teenager, your parents divorced and deprived you of a happy childhood; your spouse vowed to stay with you through thick and thin only to leave you high and dry; you asked God to heal your family member but he/she died anyway? Millions of people stay awake each night because of hurts and pains that have turned into anger. We’ve all gotten angry but some live each day with anger. Is there any hope of a return to happier days or are you doomed to a life of seething and pay-backs? The answer isn’t easy to process but it produces more restful nights and fewer resentful relationships.
