  • Part 2: "Forward, Not Finished" with Doug Carty

    About Episode

In this powerful and deeply human episode, I talk with Doug Carty, a dedicated professional at Franklin Pierce University whose life changed in an instant. After a sudden and devastating accident, Doug suffered a traumatic brain injury that set him on an uncertain and difficult path.

What followed was not just a medical recovery, but a test of resilience, identity, and determination. From the early days of confusion and physical struggle to the long, demanding process of rehabilitation, Doug faced challenges that would have stopped many in their tracks.

But this is not just a story about hardship—it’s a story about perseverance. Through grit, support, and an unyielding mindset, Doug slowly rebuilt his life. Step by step, he pushed through setbacks, relearned what was lost, and found new strength in the process.

This episode explores the realities of traumatic brain injury, the power of community, and what it truly means to keep moving forward when everything changes. Doug’s journey is a reminder that recovery isn’t linear—but with determination, it is possible.

  • "Grit, Growth, and Fatherhood" with Jon Pugeda

    About Episode

In this powerful and deeply personal episode, Jon Pugeda opens up about the roots of his relentless work ethic and the mindset that shaped his life. Growing up in a large immigrant family, Jon learned early on that nothing would be handed to him—if he wanted something, he had to earn it. Surrounded by sacrifice, hustle, and resilience, he developed a self-driven mentality that pushed him to find ways to make money and motivate himself from a young age.

Jon shares how those early lessons carried into adulthood, especially when life threw unexpected challenges his way. After becoming a single father, the stakes became even higher. Providing for his children wasn’t just about survival—it became about setting an example.

At the heart of the episode he explains how life will always be difficult in one way or another, but you get to decide which struggles are worth it. Whether it’s the hard of discipline, growth, and self-improvement—or the hard of staying stuck—Jon emphasizes the importance of choosing the path that leads to a better future.

    About Episode

In this heartfelt episode, Jeanette Cofer opens up about what it was like growing up with older parents—an experience that shaped her childhood.. She reflects on the emotional weight of knowing time might be shorter, and the profound impact of losing both parents as a younger adult. Through grief, uncertainty, and life transitions, Jeanette shares how those early losses forced her to grow, adapt, and redefine her sense of stability.
