The book of Hebrews exhorts us to continue on with our profession and continue looking unto Jesus lest we apostatize and fall away. Remember Lot's wife what happened when she looked back after the angel told her not to look back. She was judged.

Isaiah 45:22 "Look unto me and be ye saved all the ends of the earth." There is no salvation outside of Jesus Christ for He is "the way, the truth and the life; nobody comes unto the Father except by me"

Today we have all kinds of false gospels claiming salvation by following this man or this woman but these are all false paths that lead to hell. Only Jesus can save because he only was sinless. He is the lamb of God that takes away the sin of the world. This message was preached by John the Baptist. It is not popular but it is true and all true believers follow this teaching to their rejoicing.

The great truths of divinity are of great use to enforce the precepts of morality, and none more than this—That the eye of God is always upon the children of men. 1. An eye to discern all, not only from which nothing can be concealed, but by which everything is actually inspected, and nothing overlooked or looked slightly upon: The eyes of the Lord are in every place; for he not only sees all from on high (Ps. 33:13), but he is everywhere present.

Angels are full of eyes (Rev. 4:8), but God is all eye. It denotes not only his omniscience, that he sees all, but his universal providence, that he upholds and governs all. Secret sins, services, and sorrows are under his eye. 2. An eye to distinguish both persons and actions.

He beholds the evil and the good, is displeased with the evil and approves of the good, and will judge men according to the sight of his eyes, Ps. 1:6; 11:4. The wicked shall not go unpunished, nor the righteous unrewarded, for God has his eye upon both and knows their true character; this speaks as much comfort to saints as terror to sinners.

From Matthew Henry's Commentary on the Bible

1. The first commandment concerns the object of our worship, Jehovah, and him only (v. 3): Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

The Egyptians, and other neighboring nations, had many gods, the creatures of their own fancy, strange gods, new gods; this law was prefixed because of that transgression, and, Jehovah being the God of Israel, they must entirely cleave to him, and not be for any other, either of their own invention or borrowed from their neighbors. This was the sin they were most in danger of now that the world was so overspread with polytheism, which yet could not be rooted out effectually but by the gospel of Christ.

The sin against this commandment which we are most in danger of is giving the glory and honor to any creature which are due to God only.

Pride makes a god of self, covetousness makes a god of money, sensuality makes a god of the belly; whatever is esteemed or loved, feared or served, delighted in or depended on, more than God, that (whatever it is) we do in effect make a god of. This prohibition includes a precept which is the foundation of the whole law, that we take the Lord for our God, acknowledge that he is God, accept him for ours, adore him with admiration and humble reverence, and set our affections entirely upon him. In the last words, before me, it is intimated,

(1.) That we cannot have any other God but he will certainly know it. There is none besides him but what is before him. Idolaters covet secretly; but shall not God search this out? (2.) That it is very provoking to him; it is a sin that dares him to his face, which he cannot, which he will not, overlook, nor connive at. See Psalm 44:20, 21.

not abuse ourselves in any way.

1 Corinthians 6:19 Teaches us that our body is a temple. We are sanctified vessels, that is, we are set apart from the world and set apart unto our Creator/God.

Thus we belong to God and we are not our own to do our own pleasure but rather we are to do the pleasure or will of God. We are to be yielded up to God because we are purchased by and for God.

We are bought with a price even the precious blood of Jesus Christ our redeemer who made atonement for us on the cross.
