From there we hit the top movies of the era and the get down and dirty discussing the rest of the television landscape of the era. This includes the light hearted fair of My Three Sons that was in the same time slot (and beating) Star Trek. We discuss the Emmy Winning Desilu show Mission: Impossible and also the wack Avengers tv show!

This week it's Operation: Annihilate! One of us loves us the other less so. We talk this week about how cheap effects can sometimes ruin a good Networks start using focus groups to make TV. Who sometimes Plays and TV have it easier than TV. If this were today (or the movie Solo) during the solar system chase, why aren't they dodgin planets and gravity wells! This week its an Errand of Mercy we are discussing. Kirk and the gang find a planet that has stagnated... or has it? We get our cool introduction to the Klingons and we find out how their initial look was created. We discuss the similarities and differences between this episode of of TOS and Return of the Archons. We talk about Kirk's poor uncover skills and Matt theorizes that no video from this mission must exist or it would have been further proof to the Klingons in Trek 6 that the Kirk really does hate the Klingons. Could the Enterprise get the these people energized to rebel against the Klingons? If their civilization is so unadvanced how come they have automatic doors? This week it's The Devil in the Dark. Today we sadly talk about the Death of William Shatner's father which happened during the filming of this episode. Shatner's performance is nonetheless excellent in this episode, as is Nimoy's, but perhaps Shatner is more Shatner than Kirk? We discuss. We also talk about the lack of hi tech maps in the mining colony. Has the Enterprise crew learned it's lesson in dealing with the last of it's kind species since the Mantrap? Also, if you're system is so antiquated, why DON'T you have a back up available? Near the end Ken and Matt go down a rabbit hole discussing ideas for new CGI remasters where we clear up awkward story points and leads us down to other CGI things we want.
